Chapter 46
The bedroom was empty and in complete disarray. Articles of men’s and women’s clothing were strewn across the bed, and a pair of used, smelly socks lay crumpled on the wooden floor.
Several used condoms were tossed into the trash can, with a couple scattered by the bed as well. As Amber said, the man was good in bed!
Judging by the state of the room, it was evident how wild things got between them.
“Allison, get out here right now!” Shane kicked over the trash can, yanked the blanket off the bed, and smashed things around the room.
“Shane, what’s wrong?” Amber ran in, covering her mouth as she took in the scene. “What has Allison been up to in Gildford?”
Shane’s eyes were bloodshot, filled with a fury so intense he seemed ready to tear me apart limb by limb.
The commotion in the yard had drawn the attention of the neighbors.
A man, smoking a cigarette, remarked, “That couple? They left with suitcases last evening. It heard they’re off to chase freedom. Who knows where they went?”
He glanced at the well–dressed Shane. “And who are you supposed to be?”

Shane grabbed the man by the collar. I guess he was smarter than I thought. “What’s that woman’s name?”
“Her name? No clue. All I heard was someone calling her Ms. Schultz. Are you her friend? Honestly, that woman sure knows how to have fun. You could hear their screams up to the third floor every night.”
Shane’s fist smashed into the man’s face.
I decided to eat my words. He may not be entirely stupid, but he wasn’t smart either.
When he heard the girl was called Ms. Schultz he immediately assumed it was me. Did he even consider that I am very particular about cleanliness? How could I ever leave a room in such a
mess?
But alas, once someone blind and oblivious decides on a conclusion, their brain might as well be ornamental.
Shane flew into a rage and ordered his assistant, saying, “I don’t care what it takes! Dig up the entire city if you must! Find Allison!”
I crouched under the old tree in the yard, idly counting ants. “You can never find me. I was skinned, my bones crushed to dust. Who knows if my meat got turned into sausages or dried jerky?”

The assistant was oblivious to my commentary. Yes, sir.”
Shane gripped the doorframe, his gaze sweeping over the peaceful courtyard, eyes filled with pain. “Allison, I treated you well. Why would you do this to me?”
“Shane, don’t be upset. Ally, she…” Amber trailed off.
“Don’t you dare defend her! At her core, she’s nothing but a shameless whore. The only one to blame is me for being blind and not seeing her true colors until today,” Shane growled.
I couldn’t even be bothered to mock him. Go on, curse away. I was curious how much it would sting him when he finally learned the truth.
Shane flew back home with Amber.
Meanwhile, the video of someone resembling me performing a provocative dance had gone viral and made the trending list. I knew immediately the kind of insults that were being hurled
at me.
But I was dead. Why did it matter?
The Schultz family, however, was livid when they heard about what had happened in Gildford. Mom slammed the table.
“I told you she was nothing but trouble! And now she’s humiliated us. What will people think of our family?
“I even planned to secretly give her some shares! What a joke! If you ask me, we should save those shares for Amber as part of her dowry,
