Chapter 97

The room was an utter mess, made even worse by the rain from the downpour outside that splattered in from the windows, drenching the scriptures lying nearby

Grandma lay motionlessly on the ground. I wondered if she was merely unconscious or…

I stopped myself from imagining the worst

The floor was filled with the pieces of the shattered plate. Although Mom occasionally grumbled about Grandma behind the back, she still had much respect and care for Grandma

Terrified by the scene, Mom yelled and ran toward Grandma

Amber probably did not expect Mom to show up without warning. A threatening look flashed across her eyes, but she quickly regained her composure and put on a different expression

Mom, Grandma suddenly jumped at me like she was crazy. I couldn’t grab her in time, and she fell onto the floor. It was all my fault”

The fingerprint mark on her face from Grandma’s slap backed her up and dispelled any doubts

Mom had

I would have been fooled by Amber’s great acting if I had not witnessed the fight just now

Mom yelled for Rebecca while inching toward Grandma. She wailed, Mom! Mom!”

But Grandma remained limp and unresponsive on the floor

The sight of Grandma on the floor saddened me. I yelled, Grandma, wake up”

Mom placed a shaking finger under Grandma’s nose. Just like me, she feared the worst. Thankfully, her expression relaxed moments later. She let out a relieved sigh. Thank God. I think she fainted.”

Amber looked disappointed because she assumed today would be Grandma’s last day on earth. Mom’s interruption had ruined the plan

Call 911, Abbie! Why are you standing there?”

Amber snapped back to reality. “Oh. Right.”

Mom did not suspect Amber’s behavior at all. She merely thought Amber was in shock. She would never have guessed that Amber was coming up with ways to kill Grandma

When Grandma was rushed to the hospital, I stayed by her side and watched miserably as she fought for her life

Although Grandma narrowly escaped death, I knew that Grandma would be silenced sooner or later if Amber was around

Chapter 97

I might be omniscient, but at the end of the day, couldn’t change a thing

Worried sick about Grandma, I could only pray hard

Sadly, I was forced to stay at the Schultz residence after the ambulance left the compound. I was unable to take a step further, as I was only allowed to roam in the vicinity of my ashes. Since Grandma did not carry the human skin book by her side, I couldn’t stay by her side
