“Tell me! Why are you engaged to Uncle Lucas?”
I pulled my arm away, meeting his question with one of my own. “Why not?”
Ryan tightened his grip, desperation flickering in his voice. “Stop messing around, Alice! You love me. You’ve always loved me! How could you agree to marry someone else?”
I let out a soft laugh. “But as you can see now, Ryan, I can, and I am marrying someone else. I’ve spent years chasing after you, but I’m tired now. I don’t love you anymore. Besides, the person you love isn’t me, is it? So please, have some respect and stop pestering me.”
A pained expression swept across Ryan’s face. “No… I know you still love me. You loved me in our past life…” His voice trailed off as his demeanor shifted. He sighed and softened his tone, attempting a different approach.

“Alright, Alice. Let’s not fight anymore. I’ll let you choose everything for our wedding the outfits, the cake, even the style of your dress. I’ll buy whatever you like, okay? And fine, even though Willow and I are bonded to each other, I promise I’ll never bring her to our house. I won’t let you see us together. Is that good enough for you?”
I stared at him in disbelief, as if seeing him clearly for the first time.
“Ryan, my own wedding should always have been about what I wanted,” I said coldly. “And I’ll say this one last time: The man I’m marrying is Lucas. Stop acting like a madman.”
“If you dare marry him, you’ll regret it!” Ryan stapped, his frustration spilling over as he suddenly yanked me closer.
But before I could respond, I was pulled into a warm embrace. Lucas was back, draping my coat around my shoulders. Without hesitation, he clenched his fist and landed a punch squarely on Ryan’s face.
“Ryan! Who gave you the right to lay a hand on my fiancée?”
Blood trickled from the corner of Ryan’s mouth as he gritted his teeth, a twisted smile forming on his face. “Uncle Lucas, ask around. Everyone in the wolf pack knows that Alice has always been my little lapdog, chasing after me. And you’re willing to marry someone like her? My sloppy-”
Before he could finish, Lucas.punched him again, his anger palpable. “Watch your mouth! If you can’t say anything nice, I’ll personally teach you a lesson. If you’re done being the heir, say the word, and I’ll find someone to replace you! Now get out of here!”
Seeing Lucas’s knuckles turn red, I couldn’t help but ask, “Does it hurt?”
Ryan’s eyes lit up briefly with hope, only for it to extinguish when he saw me inspecting Lucas’s hand with concern. That light in his gaze vanished completely. He cast me one last, lingering look before walking away, defeated.
Willow came out just then, calling after him and asking for a ride home, but he ignored her entirely, leaving her behind as he drove off alone.
I quickly turned to Lucas, trying to explain. “Its true. I used to chase after Ryan, but we were never a couple. We’ve never been intimate, and we never established a mate bond…”
Lucas smiled gently, ruffling my hair. “Don’t worry. I don’t take anything that brat says seriously. I trust you.”
I stared at him, my face heating up, unable to hide my blush.
Suddenly, Lucas winced and clutched his hand, putting on a pitiful expression. “But my hand really hurts now. I don’t think I can drive or cook for the next couple of days. I might need someone to take care of me…”
This powerful wolf–unbothered by such minor injuries–was using this as an excuse to act

spoiled.
Seeing this childish side of him, my heart softened. I mimicked his gentle gestures and patted his head. “Alright, alright. I’ll take care of you for the next few days. How does that sound?”
A smile spread across Lucas’s face. “Thanks in advance, Honey.”
