Chapter 12
Trapped in the trunk, Angelina kicked the van repeatedly. As the van cruised on the freeway, the driver began to feel afraid.
“Kierra…”
“Don’t be scared. She’s pregnant, so she can’t do much.
“Angelina, I’m doing this for your good. I’m helping you earn money! You’ll be done for if you stay with Chester. Say, you went through so much to leave the mountains and come to Brookhaven.
“You’re just so unlucky. You finally married Chester, but he went bankrupt! Is it possible that you’re bringing him all the bad luck? But it’s okay. If you win over Adrian’s heart, you can continue to be a rich man’s wife. Well, that’s up to you to decide,” Kierra said, chuckling.
Angelina was heavily pregnant at eight months. The bondage suffocated her, and Angelina broke out in a cold sweat. She kicked the van repeatedly, but the noise on the freeway drowned
the noise of her kicks.
Then, Angelina started to feel dizzy. She tried to stay awake by pinching herself in the thighs.
After having a coffee break, Joshua got back to work on more software features. Just then, Chester came in after having a smoke break.
“How should I set this?”
“You can decide.”
Chester left with his keys. He was headed for Alexander’s office.
But Brookhaven was known for its traffic congestion, which could happen anytime, anywhere. To no surprise, Chester was caught in a jam.
“Hey, are you here yet?”
“I’m stuck in traffic.”
“Which route did you
take?
As Chester lit a–cigarette, Ryan Peterson snatched the phone from Alexander and said, “Your woman isn’t too shabby. She didn’t leave you! If were another woman, she would’ve left long ago. Women are very realistic nowadays.”
Alexander signaled Ryan to stop, but Ryan continued. “Ches, how long are you going to take? Should I come to you?”

“Get lost.” Chester flicked the cigarette out the window. He couldn’t help but recall his childhood memories.
“Ches, I’m scared.
“Ches, I don’t dare to use the washroom by myself. Can you come with me?”
But as they grew older, she stopped addressing him as “Ches“.
Suddenly, Chester heard thumping sounds from the van in front of him. It was a white van, and the woman in the passenger seat was talking on the phone.
He heard the thumping sound again and looked at the trunk.
Angelina could sense that the van had stopped, and she speculated they were stuck in traffic. That meant the next car was not too far away! She tried her best to make some noise.
Soaked in sweat and unable to say a word, Angelina used all her might to kick the trunk. She made a loud thumping sound again.
The traffic was at a standstill. Angelina knew that some people would get out of their cars if the traffic didn’t smoothen out, and it was her chance to escape.
After all, Brookhaven was also known for something else aside from its traffic congestion–it was the city of reporting.
Regardless of status and fame, if anyone were to violate the law, a Brookhaven citizen would not hesitate to report them to the authorities. That was how many celebrities were exposed for their controversies.
The people of Brookhaven wouldn’t seek trouble, yet they were not afraid to stand up against trouble either. Angelina had her hopes on the people of Brookhaven. She hoped that they would notice her existence.
“Kierra…”
The driver was terrified and glanced at Kierra.
In response, Kierra got out of the van with a cigarette in her mouth. She kicked the trunk several times, each time harder than before.
Seeing Kierra, Chester’s expression shifted.
Still stuck in traffic, Angelina kicked even harder. But after some time, she began to feel tired, and she started experiencing leg cramps. As Angelina lay in the trunk, she didn’t want to move anymore. She was at her limits, so she only kicked the van once in a while.

The traffic cleared up in less than 20 minutes, and Kierra told the driver to hurry to the hotel.
When they arrived at the basement, Kierra released Angelina from the ropes and helped. Angelina up. But Angelina could barely stand. It seemed as if she had passed out.
One of the men carried her upstairs, but Chester was watching all this happen not too far away.
“Chester, are you here yet?”
“Brookhaven Hotel.”
“Didn’t you say to meet at Alexander’s office? Why the sudden change?”
“Five minutes.”
Chester meant he could only wait for another five minutes.
When Alexander and Ryan heard that, they knew something must have gone wrong. They hurriedly rushed over to Brookhaven Hotel.
In a daze, Angelina was placed on a soft bed. Meanwhile, Kierra happily chatted away with
Adrian.
“Hello, Mr. Hendrix. You see, I never make empty promises. I did as I promised. Here’s Mrs.
Whitmore.”
Adrian touched Angelina’s belly and said, “And you brought Mr. Whitmore Junior too.”
Kierra wrapped her arms around Adrian’s waist. Noticing how he couldn’t hide his joy, she said, “Since you had such a great experience, isn’t 20 million too little? What about 30 million? Don’t forget about me, Mr. Hendrix. You know me. If we’re talking skills, I wouldn’t lose out to Mrs. Whitmore.”
Angelina scrambled out of bed, but just as she got up, Adrian pinned her down again.
Angelina said, “I’ll make sure you all pay for what you did. Let me out… Adrian, he’ll kill you! Ah!”
In response, Adrian choked Angelina angrily. He snarled, “Can’t you see what’s happening, Mrs. Whitmore? Look at the situation. I’m richer than Chester, and he’s just a dog.”
“Let me go! I’ll kill you, Kierra. What did you feed me? Hmph…”
Adrian covered Angelina’s mouth, leaving her breathless. Angelina became dizzy, but Adrian suddenly released his grip.
“I shall not disturb you, Mr. Hendrix. I’ll get the payment from your subordinate.”
“Yeah, go. Get lost!”
Kierra left happily. But just as she walked out of the room, a strong force pulled her aside, and a large palm choked her by her neck.
Chapter 12
When Kierra saw the police coming in from the emergency exit, she couldn’t help but stare in shock. She couldn’t believe what was happening.
Meanwhile, the pregnant Angelina couldn’t fight against Adrian, who continued to caress her belly.
“Pervert! You pervert!”
“Scream all you want, but it’s no use even if you scream your lungs out. Chester’s wife and Chester’s son…. Interesting. How interesting!”
But with a loud bang, the door behind Adrian swung open from a hard kick.
Chester rushed into the room first. Even though he was mentally prepared, he couldn’t help but kick Adrian off the bed when he saw the scene.
Behind Chester, the
police rushed in. Chester covered Angelina with his jacket.
Angelina was trembling in fear, and she had a blank expression on her face. When she saw Chester, she was emotionless, seemingly in shock.
“I’m late,” Chester said.
He bent over to help Angelina up. Just as he laid his hand on Angelina’s back, a hint of life returned to Angelina’s eyes.
Chester continued to say, “I’m sorry I’m late.”
“Chester.” Angelina’s lips were pale. She whimpered and jumped into his embrace, asking,” Chester, what took you so long?”
“I’m sorry.”
Meanwhile, Adrian fell to the ground, looking disheveled. The police immediately captured.

“You’ve been colluding with David Peterson. Who else is involved in this?” Chester asked.
Hearing that, Adrian turned pale. He wondered how Chester had found out.
“The lot of you joined hands with William to trick me and humiliate my wife. You’ll pay for this eventually.”
“Angelina! Save me, Angelina! Save me!”
Terrified from the turn of events, Kierra shouted for Angelina. But Angelina buried herself in Chester’s arms like an injured rabbit.
Kierra screamed, “Chester! It was David who approached me first. I don’t know William personally. Chester!”
