Chapter 13
When Chester left the hotel with Angelina, Alexander and Ryan finally arrived.
“How are things?”
“Is Angelina okay?”
“Hire a lawyer.”
Chester glanced at Adrian, who had been arrested by the police.
“Mr. Whitmore, Mr. Hunt, Mr. Peterson! It was David who told me to work with him! I wasn’t aware. I don’t even know William. I don’t know him… It was David who tampered with the accounts. He was the one who sent people to cause trouble with the project! It’s not me. I didn’t do it!
“Save me, Angelina. We’re best friends…” Kierra said in fear. She tried to cling to Angelina’s arm, but Chester kicked her.
Ryan knelt down and asked Kierra, “How did you know that David tampered with the accounts?
“What?”
Angelina felt anxious. Meanwhile, Kierra had no idea what Ryan was talking about..
“Save me, Angelina. I’m sorry! I was just helping you. You were the one who said Chester was like a dog after he went bankrupt and that you didn’t want to be poor with him! You were the one who said that you’d feel sorry for yourself if you didn’t marry a rich man! You said it’d be a waste of your beauty, good traits, and all your kindness!”
Angelina couldn’t believe what she heard; she was flushed red. But Kierra was speaking the truth. That was what the female side character actually said.
Angelina buried herself deeper into Chester’s arms. She didn’t dare to look at Chester’s angry expression.
“You were the one who said you wanted an abortion. I even contacted the hospital for you. How can you go back on your word?” Kierra barked.
“You were the one who wanted to marry a rich man, and you were also the one who wanted a peaceful life. Angelina, I did this all for you… You were born into a poor family. Do you want to stay poor with him for the rest of your life?”
Alexander and Ryan couldn’t offer much help, but they were witnessing a dramatic turn of events. When they saw Chester’s grim expression they tried their best to hold back their laughter.
On the way to the hospital, Chester remained silent. Angelina was also feeling embarrassed by
all the things that Kierra had said.
The baby was healthy, and it wasn’t frightened by what had happened. After checking the fetal heartbeat, everything turned out to be fine.
Chester held Angelina as they left the hospital. He said, “When you get home, don’t tell them what happened in case they worry.”
“Okay.”

“Yes, she was the one who told me.”
“That’s weird.”
“What’s weird?”
Logically, Adrian and David would be careful to keep important information like that a secret. They wouldn’t reveal it to anyone, yet they revealed it to Kierra, and Angelina happened to stumble upon their secret.
It was foolish of them to craft such a great plan yet still act carelessly.
“She eavesdropped on them, and she briefly told me about it.”
“When was this?”
“Just a couple of days ago.”
The areas where they had tied Angelina with the ropes began to bruise and itch. When the couple passed a traffic light, Chester noticed Angelina’s bruises, and his facial expression became even more grim.
When they arrived in their neighborhood, Chester parked the car and led Angelina to the pharmacy.
The pharmacy’s business was booming, and they opened several branches in the same neighborhood. Outside, a banner read that all medications were on sale at a 30% discount.
They approached a staff member. After getting recommendations, Chester bought a load of medicine. Then, they went home.
Nobody was home. As Angelina sat on the couch, she couldn’t believe the rollercoaster of a day that she had experienced. She got kidnapped, and she almost….
“How did you find me?” Angelina asked.
But just after saying that, Angelina felt that she had asked a silly question. After all, Chester was the male lead. Even though he was at his weakest, he was still more capable than the
average person.
But Chester felt ashamed when he heard her question.
“The traffic jam.”
Angelina was shocked. She asked, “You heard me?”
“Yeah.”
When Chester heard the noise, he speculated that there might be a problem. And when he saw Kierra, he confirmed his speculations.
However, if he had approached them immediately, he wouldn’t have been able to secure
evidence of Adrian’s crime. Chester had to catch Adrian red–handed. But that decision resulted
in Angelina’s suffering. She was eight months pregnant too.
At that thought, Chester felt ashamed of himself.
After getting settled and taking a shower, Angelina came out of the shower only to see Chester with a box of pink cotton panties.
“Since you’re pregnant, don’t wear weird lingerie anymore.”
Angelina blushed, but so did Chester. After tossing the box onto the bed, he went out to the living room to smoke.
When Chester came back in, Angelina was fast asleep. He carefully applied the medicine on Angelina and closed the door.
That night, neither of them talked about what had happened that day.
Isadora arrived home late after working overtime. When Angelina got up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, she could hear Isadora crying.
After listening to her cries from inside the bathroom for a while, Angelina came outside only to find that Isadora had gone to the balcony. Angelina figured Isadora didn’t want to be
discovered.
Angelina poured herself a glass of water and said to Isadora, “Welcome home, Isa.”
“Mhm.”
“Have you eaten? I can cook some food for you.”
“There’s food.”
Emily had prepared food for Isadora in advance. Angelina took the dinner out of the microwave and served it. The food was still hot.
Angelina turned off the power switch for the microwave and said, “Come eat, then. You should.
rest soon.”
Meanwhile, Isadora continued to gaze at Angeling from the balcony, sending chills down
Angelina’s spine.
“Isa…” Angelina called out.
Isadora walked over. Noticing her red and puffy eyes, Angelina felt her heart drop.
According to the original plot, just when Chester was at his lowest, Isadora was raped by her superior at a hotel. Ever since then, Isadora became a completely different person, and she suffered from severe depression.
But as Angelina’s child hadn’t been aborted according to the original plot, Angelina struggled to gauge the timing of events.
“What’s wrong? Why are your eyes so red?” Angelina asked, reaching to touch Isadora’s eyes.
But Isadora grabbed Angelina’s hand and said, “It’s nothing, I’m just in a bad mood. You can go to bed.”
Isadora wolfed down on her meal. She was never the kind to go on diets. She wasn’t skinny either, and she had some baby fat on her face. Though Isadora was two years older than Angelina, she looked younger.
“Why are you looking at me?” Isadora asked,
Angelina didn’t respond. Instead, she took out some ice from the freezer and wrapped the cubes in a towel. She handed it to Isadora, saying, “You can use it like this. It will help relieve the swelling.”
Isadora could feel the coldness of the ice after the compress was placed over her eyes. Isadora grunted.
“What’s wrong? Is it too cold?” Angelina asked.
“No, no. It’s okay.”
Angelina continued to massage Isadora’s eyes. She said, “If you massage them like this, the swelling will go down. Next time, you don’t have to hide after crying. You just need to massage your eyes with this.”
“Who says I cried? Go to bed. It’s none of your business,” Isadora said, snatching the cold compress from Angelina.
In response, Angelina asked, “Are you concerned about me?”
“Who the hell is concerned about you? You’re the richest person in our household now. I’m Just trying to get on your good side.”
After walking a few steps away, Angelina suddenly turned around and said, “Isa, if you’re not happy at work, let’s start a business together.”
“What?”
