Chapter 18
After a round of food, Angelina started paying special attention to Rosalind. When Rosalind’s glass was empty, Angelina quickly stood up to pour her another one. When Rosalind ate spicy food, Angelina went to a nearby convenience store and brought back a bottle of milk. Then, she kept asking whether Rosalind wanted food, worried she hadn’t eaten enough.
Rosalind had come with Megan. Suddenly being treated this way by a stranger made her feel at bit uneasy.
Meanwhile, Megan was visibly unhappy. She thought Angelina was trying to flatter her best friend. Who knew what her real intentions were or what she was after?
Seeing that Megan was about to lose her temper, Alexander pulled Megan aside.
“What is she doing?”
“She’s nuts. Don’t take her seriously.”
“I would’ve blown up already if not for your sake.”
“She’s just being kind; she’s taking care of your friend.”
“Nobody asked her to take care of Rosalind. This is annoying.”
When they returned to their seats, Angelina was still staring at Rosalind. She liked looking at beautiful women, maybe even more so than some men. Rosalind had the gentle elegance of a classic beauty. Anyone would like her.
Every time Angelina looked at Rosalind, she couldn’t help but think of how her romance with Chester was described in the novel. Every smile and every movement of hers painted a beautiful scenery, even when she drank milk.
Angelina pinched Chester unconsciously. “Look.
“Look at what?” he asked, a bit speechless.
“She’s so beautiful.”
Chester had no idea what had gotten into Angelina today. Ever since they moved in, she had been perfectly normal. But she was acting incomprehensibly now.
“Even so, you shouldn’t keep staring at her.”
Angelina withdrew her gaze. Seeing Megan looking at her too, she quickly lowered her head. and focused on eating.
Probably feeling uncomfortable, Rosalind stood up and excused herself. She said she had something to do.
“I’ll go with you, Rosalind. I’ll send you home.”
It was obvious that Megan was unhappy and couldn’t wait to leave.
After they left, Angelina belatedly realized she had been too engrossed in admiring Rosalind’s beauty. She almost forgot that she was Chester’s wife now and that she was the one pregnant with his child.
Well, she blamed it on the emotional scenes in the book being too well–written. It was impossible not to ship Rosalind and Chester.
Rosalind was so unsettled by Angelina’s constant stares that she grabbed Megan’s hand once they were in the car.
“Meg, why was she staring at me the whole time? Is there something on my face? Did I not do my makeup right today?”
“No, you look great.”
Rosalind’s hands were ice–cold. “Then… does she like women?”
“Probably not…”
Megan thought about how Angelina had previously tried to compete with her for Alexander,
Considering Alexander and Chester’s relationship, she chose her words carefully. “She probably just thinks you’re beautiful.”
“I don’t know why, but I feel uneasy every time I see her. She keeps staring at me, and she looks like a scheming woman.”
“Once you spend more time with someone, you’ll know whether they’re good or bad. Don’t judge a person when you barely know them,” Megan said, though she agreed with Rosalind inwardly.
Angelina was a very scheming woman. Everything the Whitmore family had given her was impeccable. They brought her out of the mountains and provided her with a life of luxury and
comfort.
Everyone knew Emily loved Angelina more than Isadora, and Megan had even spoken up for Isadora before.
But the things Angelina did not only caused chaos in the Whitmore family but also almost drove a wedge–between Chester and his friends.
Megan drove cautiously while chatting with Rosalind.
“Do you know Louis Bennett?” Megan asked.
“Yeah, he went abroad a few months ago, right?”
“Do you know why he went abroad?”
After listening to Megan’s words, Rosalind’s eyes widened “S–She’s too much.
“She is. But after Chester went bankrupt, she’s still willing to be with him even though it’s hard. Hence, I don’t dislike her as much. Maybe she still has a bit of a conscience.”
Rosalind sighed. “Maybe, but I feel bad for Louis!
Louis used to be inseparable from Alexander, Ryan, Chester, and Joshua. They were the closest friends, they shared everything and never held back
However, Louis wasn’t as privileged as the others. He lived in an alley in Brookhaven. While the others were picked up in luxury cars back in high school, he rode his bike back and forth. After graduating from college, he also had to rely on his own efforts to start a network studio.

This isn’t his fault, Louis. It’s Angelina’s doing,
“She’s innocent and knows nothing. Why would she do something like that?”
Angelina didn’t step forward to explain herself, making her seem even more pitiful. Louis, heartbroken, almost broke down.
Later, when he saw the evidence proving that it was indeed Angelina’s doing, he couldn’t accept it. To protect Angelina’s reputation, Emily had no choice but to agree for her to marry

After that, Louis cut off all ties with them and went abroad.
After Rosalind and Megan left, Angelina hardly said a word, so she didn’t draw attention to herself.
Having drunk too much, the men kept yapping and started getting a bit muddle–headed.
“I saw Louis before he left the country,” Ryan said suddenly.
Chester froze for a moment.
Joshua quickly responded, “Are you drunk? You haven’t even drunk that much.
“You’re the one who’s drunk. You can’t out–drinkme,” Ryan snapped back
“You’re boasting! I could destroy you, and you wouldn’t be able to get up afterward.”
The topic was quickly brushed aside, and Angelina tried hard to recall such a person in her mind. Louis? He was a minor character who didn’t show up that much.
But later, when the female side character was at her lowest and ignored by everyone. Louis was the only one willing to pay attention to her. He hired someone to care for her and stayed by her side until her final moments.
As it was getting late, Chester took Angelina back home.
It wasn’t a long walk–they only took a few minutes to reach home. The apartment had many stray cats, and they only came out in the quiet of the night to search for food.
When Angelina saw a cat, she couldn’t help but follow it. “Meow… Kitty, don’t run away. Meow
Her eyes were fixed on the cat. As she walked a few steps ahead, she accidentally kicked a manhole cover. But Chester grabbed her to steady her.
“Be careful.”
Under the moonlight, she looked at the man, whose gaze was only on her.
His gaze was so intense that Angelina quickly looked away.
When they got upstairs, they didn’t turn on the lights to avoid disturbing anyone at home. Angelina fumbled around in the dark looking for her slippers when Chester suddenly picked her up and carried her toward the bed.
He pressed his hands on both sides of her, lifting the hem of her dress while kissing her.
Stunned, Angelina pushed his head away, accidentally brushing against his hair.
