Chapter 31
Nearby, Joshua glanced at Chester, who stood mollonless.
There was no emotion on Chester’s face, and he wasn’t smiling either. He just stood there, watching Angelina head upstairs before finally walking over to Louis.
Chester stood tall, holding a takeout bag of pasta with lemon butter sauce for Angelina in one hand. His long legs cast shadows in the dusk as he took a step forward. With a sudden kick, he sent Louis sprawling to the ground.
“I don’t care who it is. I won’t tolerate anyone who slanders me behind my back.”
“You okay, Louis?” Joshua helped him up, only for Chester to deliver another brutal kick.
“It’s just a matter of time for me to make a comeback. I can take back everything.”
“Why are you bragging about making a comeback? You’re so broke that you’re living out in the suburbs, and you’re still spouting nonsense.
Chester pointed at joshua. “Alexander, Ryan, and Joshua can throw out tens of millions, yet even that won’t be able to lift you up. Whitmore Group will never recover!”
Louis grabbed Chester by the collar. “You can suffer all you want, but don’t drag a pregnant woman down with you. Why should Angie have to live like this?”
Chester leaned his head forward and slammed it hard against Louis‘ forehead, causing Louis to cry out in pain.
“Chester!”
Even Joshua was startled by the sound. It sounded like Chester had an iron head!
“You were the one who cut ties with me back then, but now, I’m the one who’ll cut ties with you. Get lost!”
“Fight me! Come on, one–on–one!”
Joshua held Louis back with all his might. “Calm down, Louis. We’re all friends. Don’t do this.”
“Chester!”
“It’s been a long time since we last met each other, Louis. Let’s grab a meal and have a smoke together,” said Joshua.
But Louis persisted, shouting, “Chester, fight me if you dare! Chester!”
Inside the house, Angelina sat there, feeling unsettled.

If the original Angelina hadn’t kept scheming, her life would’ve been smooth sailing.
Unfortunately, her lack of foresight and poor judgment ruined everything she had going for
her..
Angelina decided to take a nap but heard a flurry of sounds outside.
Emily had probably returned home and was now cooking in the kitchen. Feeling drowsy,
Angelina quickly fell asleep.
Meanwhile, Chester busied himself in the kitchen, making her a bowl of beef stew tomato with
some carrots.
The Whitmore family used to have a housekeeper whose specialty was this dish, and Angelina loved it. Chester relied on his memory and recreated the dish.
He added some water to the pot and put all the ingredients in. Then, he poured a bit of oil and salt before covering it with a lid.
After about half an hour of simmering, it looked soft and tender, and the meat was cooked through. But the stew’s flavor was still lacking something.
Chester scooped a bowl and brought it to Angelina’s bedside. “Angelina, time to eat.”
He supported the woman in his arms. “Angelina.
Angelina opened her eyes just a sliver, barely responding. He blew on a spoonful of soup to cool it down and said, “Open your mouth, ah…
Angelina opened her mouth, and he fed her the stew.
She coughed twice and suddenly became awake. “This is…”
“Does it taste good?”
It tasted awful.
“If you like it, eat more.”
What was wrong with Chester? Why was he acting out of character?
The novel didn’t mention the male lead acting so strangely.
While she was mulling over this, another spoonful of stew was brought to her.
“I need to use the bathroom. You can have it.”
“Eat first; use the bathroom later
“I’m pregnant. I need to pee often. I can’t hold it in.” Angelina quickly slipped away and closed the bathroom door.
Chester took a sip of soup himself. As soon as he swallowed, he frowned. He used the same
ingredients, but why did it taste so different?
That evening, Isadora returned while humming a tune and carrying a big tub of ice cream.
“You haven’t even started making money, and you’re already wasting it. Eating stuff like this isn’t healthy,” Emily criticized her.
Where’s Angelina?”
“Asleep.”
“Why is she always sleeping?”
“She’s pregnant. What’s wrong with sleeping more? Do you expect a pregnant woman not to rest and instead go out to work?” Emily said, her tone sharp.
Isadora laughed awkwardly. “That’s not what I meant. I just-”
“You meant exactly that.”
