The days of eating and sleeping passed in the blink of an eye. There were only two days left until Angelina’s due date.
For several days, Isadora didn’t even acknowledge her.
That afternoon, Isadora was busy designing in the studio when Megan and Rosalind came over, saying they wanted to observe and learn a bit. They were all design students, so they naturally had a lot to talk about.
Rosalind really liked Isadora’s designs and praised them repeatedly after looking through
them.
Stop flattering me. Everyone knows your designs are unmatched. You’re making me feel
embarrassed.”
“I’m just being honest. Isadora, your designs still need some improvement overall, but each. sketch has its own uniqueness.”
“Thank you.”
“Look at this one. If you change it like this, it’ll be perfect.”
“Indeed, it’s much better now.”
Megan and Rosalind worked at one of the top design firms in Brookhaven. This was the first time they had come to such a small studio. Even though it was small, it had everything and a lot of potential for development.
“Are your designs limited?”
“Limited?”
“Our designs are often picked by the higher–ups in the company. Out of ten sketches, only one might be usable,” Megan uttered.
Having been an employee before, Isadora understood this feeling very well. “I used to face limitations too. But with my own studio now, I’m not limited anymore. If I want to create something, I just do it. There are always channels willing to take my work. I just have to keep looking and asking.”
Her words made Megan feel a little envious. “Ah, now I’m starting to envy you!
Isadora smiled widely. “Envy me? With Alexander backing you up, who would dare not to pick your designs?”
“I don’t like him interfering in my work, and he wouldn’t dare.”
Rosalind flipped through Isadora’s design sketches. “Isadora, aside from design, are there
other challenges you face in your studio?”
“Besides having more freedom in design, the rest are all challenges.”
“Is it a financial issue?”
“Not just financial but also operational.”
Rosalind glanced at Megan, who took a sip of water. “If you don’t mind, we’d like to join you.”
“Huh?”
“We didn’t dare to have the thought at first. But after seeing you do it, we want to join you.”
“Actually, I had my doubts as well. But Angelina encouraged me. After our family ran into trouble and we didn’t have money, she was the one who helped me.”
Megan was taken aback. This wasn’t the Angelina she knew.
“Isadora, Rosalind and I really want to join your studio. We’ll find a way to handle the resources. If the three of us work together, we’ll definitely make the studio better.”
‘Megan, Alexander can easily open a studio for you. Why come all the way to the suburbs? And you, Rosalind. If I’m not mistaken, your family doesn’t lack this bit of money.”
“Isadora, yes or no?”
“I’ll think about it.”
Emily started cooking in the afternoon, and Florence came over to help. The two chatted
outside.
Florence had good relationships with people in the apartment, so she knew about everyone’s
affairs.
Angelina woke up in the afternoon, or more accurately, she was woken up by the noise.
“Mom, what are you doing? I’ll help.”
“Don’t do anything. Just watch TV.”
Angelina was used to it. She spent her days just resting at home for the sake of the baby. Apart from eating and sleeping, she didn’t have to do anything else.
Emily wouldn’t let her do anything either.
Her due date was in the next couple of days. Angelina slept all day, but she was also worried about the pain of childbirth.
Emily kept busy until evening, when Gerald and Chester returned from work. She and Florence were still in the kitchen, working.
“Why are you cooking so much? That’s enough.”
“Isadora is bringing people back later.”
“Who?”
“Alexander’s girlfriend and a friend of hers. I can’t remember her name. They’re planning to work on the studio together.”
“Young people just love to mess around.”
“Let them. At least they’ll have something to do. Even if it doesn’t work out, it’ll be a good experience.”
Emily brought the dishes out. “Although we don’t have money now, we can’t be careless. We can’t let others look down on us.”
