Nicole’s condition was getting worse fast. Without a kidney transplant, she didn’t have much time left.
When they couldn’t find me, they ended up going to the police
slation.

When they heard from the police that I had already passed. away, they were in shock for a long time.
“Amelia’s really dead? Why didn’t anyone tell us?” Caleb was in a daze.
“Don’t you remember? We cut ties with Amelia a long time ago,” Alexis said, her eyes distant.
Both of them felt a bit guilty.
Yeah, when I turned twenty, Caleb and Alexis legally cut ties with me.
They did it because the government had just rolled out a new benefits policy, and they were afraid I’d take a share from Nicole. So, they severed all legal family ties with me.
I cried, begging Caleb and Alexis, saying I didn’t want any money. I just didn’t wanna be abandoned.
I’d never forget how they pushed me away with disgust.

“Amelia, we’ve done our duty raising you. From now on,

everything we have belongs to Nicole. Don’t think you can fight her for it. Just pretend you have no family and live on your
own.”
At twenty, I had parents, but it was like I didn’t.
Maybe I never had a family from the moment I was born.
Because of this, the police notified my good friend, Scarlett Turner, to handle my funeral.
She knew about my relationship with my family, so she didn’t tell them.
After confirming my death, Caleb, Alexis, and Isaac didn’t stay with Nicole at the hospital for once. They went to see Scarlett.
Seeing them, she was furious. “Amelia’s been dead for a month, and you so–called family members are just now finding out!”
“Scarlett, where are Amelia’s ashes? Please give them to us. I want to bring Amelia home,” Caleb said, looking humbled.
“Home? Does she even have a home anymore? Didn’t you guys cut her off and say she had no parents from now on?” Scarlett sneered.
“Amelia is still our daughter,” Alexis tried to explain.
“Your daughter? Isn’t Nicole the only one you care about? Who

even remembers Amelia?” Scarlett’s voice dripped with hatred.
“What really happened to Amelia?” Isaac asked, his voice heavy with sorrow.
Scarlett couldn’t hold back any longer.
She snapped, “You want to know how Amelia died? While you were holding Nicole’s hand, swearing to love her forever, Amelia was using her last breath to call Alexis. And what did Alexis say? ‘Never come home again.‘ Meanwhile, a monster was on top of her, violating her, stabbing her, and tearing her apart!”
