Chapter 5
Caleb’s body shook violently, the big man collapsing in an
instant.
Alexis let out a piercing scream, her cries echoing through the
room.
Isaac’s fingers trembled, his eyes burning red with grief.
On the thirtieth day after my death, they finally realized that the Amelia they found so annoying was gone forever.
“Amelia’s ashes are gone. I scattered them into the sea, as she wished,” Scarlett’s voice quivered. “She said even in death, she didn’t want to trouble you, afraid you’d find her unlucky…”
After Caleb and Alexis abandoned me, I told Scarlett that if I ever died, she should scatter my ashes into the sea and not
bother them.
They didn’t like me. They wouldn’t want my ashes, might even think they were bad luck.
A thunderous roar filled the air. The tall Caleb finally broke down, covering his face and sobbing after hearing her last words.
“Amelia, we failed you…”
Chapter 5
Alexis nearly fainted, barely held up by Isaac.

He choked up, “Amelia, I messed up! If you come back, I swear I’ll never leave you again…”
Too late, it’s all too late. I’m already dead!
I floated above, watching the three of them below, the pain in my chest slowly fading.
When they returned to the hospital, they were all silent.
Sensing something was wrong, Nicole cautiously asked, “Dad, Mom, is Amelia really in trouble?”
When no one answered, she complained, “Amelia is such a drama queen, scaring you guys at a time like this!”
“Shut up!” Caleb’s roar cut through the air. It was the first time. he’d ever yelled at Nicole.
Alexis started crying again. “Amelia… she’s really gone…”
Nicole was stunned.
When I was alive, she could fight me for everything, bully and frame me. But now that I’m dead, how’s she gonna compete with a corpse?
Unwilling to accept it, Nicole reverted to her usual innocent act, tears streaming down her face. “Amelia’s really dead? How did
she die?”
Chapter 5
3/10
Isaac stared at her blankly. “She died the night we got engaged, during a home invasion. She was raped and murdered.”
Nicole froze again.
“She’s dead, what about my kidney?”
Her words made all three of them freeze and turn to look at her..
Caleb slapped her hard across the face, shouting, “Amelia is dead, and you’re still thinking about her kidney!”
Spoiled since childhood. Nicole was stunned by the slap. She turned to Alexis. “Mom…”
Alexis turned away, deliberately ignoring her pleading look. “Nicole, you’ve really let us down!”
Nicole couldn’t handle being treated like this by Caleb and Alexis for the first time. She kept crying. tugging on Isaac’s arm. “Isaac…”
He abruptly shook her hand off. “I remember Owen returned. Amelia’s stuff. I want to check it out.”
The three of them went back home and dug out a cardboard box. from the storage room.
The box had been buried at the bottom, covered in dust.
They stared at the box, hesitant to touch it.
Chapter 5
Finally, Isaac reached out and opened the box.

Inside were all the awards and medals I had won over the years.
Caleb picked them up one by one, his voice choking. “I never knew Amelia won so many awards! I always thought she was just wasting her time!”
Of course, they had no idea how good I really was.
The first time I won first place in a math competition, I came home excitedly with my medal, only to be stopped by Nicole.
“What are you so proud of? With me around, do you really think Mom and Dad will even look at you?” Nicole’s expression was full of smug confidence.
That night, when I carefully took out my medal, she framed me again, accusing me of dating and wasting time.
They didn’t even ask, didn’t care about the medal, just snatched it and hurled it at me.
“You’re too young to be dating! Why can’t you be more like Nicole?”
The medal hit my forehead, leaving a bloody scratch. Then it fell to the ground and shattered.
Nicole stepped in front of Caleb and Alexis. “Don’t be mad at Amelia. It’s my fault for not keeping an eye on her. I’ll make sure

to watch her from now on!”

They calmed down with Nicole’s “understanding” and then the three of them went out for a fancy dinner.
As punishment, I was left at home without dinner.
Since then, I never shared any of my awards with them again.
Because they didn’t care, and they definitely wouldn’t believe
- me.
Underneath all those awards were my blood donation. certificates and volunteer recognitions.
Alexis picked up the stack of “Outstanding Youth” and volunteer certificates and couldn’t hold back anymore. “Amelia is so amazing and kind! And I kept calling her selfish…”
Beneath the certificates were some faded papers detailing various remedies for stomach pain.
Seeing them, Caleb froze, his expression suddenly pained. “So she was telling the truth. Those soups were really made by Amelia for me…”
His job had wrecked his stomach. To help him, I visited countless doctors, compiling these remedies and making soups. tailored for Caleb.
But in the end, Nicole secretly stole the methods. Even the soups I made in private became her credit.
Chapter 5
6/10
Caleb’s hand trembled as he held the papers. “Amelia… How much has been hidden from her? How much has she suffered?”
Under the papers was a glass doll. It had been shattered but carefully pieced back together by me.
Alexis held the doll, looking dazed.
It was a birthday gift from her when I turned ten. She said the doll reminded her of my quiet demeanor.
I remember being overjoyed receiving Alexis’s first gift.
My joy was contagious. Maybe realizing how much she had neglected me, Alexis softened, gently asking what I wanted for dinner.
At that moment, Nicole was glaring at us with jealousy.
She couldn’t stand Alexis getting close to me, fearing we’d become closer.
So, while Alexis went out to buy groceries for me, Nicole smashed my doll and damaged her own piano, then ran out crying to Alexis. Nicole claimed I was throwing a fit because I thought Alexis favored her, giving her a grand piano while I only got a cheap doll, so I broke the doll in anger.
When Alexis got back, all she saw was the broken piano and a mess of shattered pieces.
Chapter 5
7/10
She was furious. “Amelia, I can’t believe I felt guilty for you. You never change!”
Since then, Alexis wouldn’t come near me. She’d frown every time she saw me.
I tried to explain, but Alexis wouldn’t listen. The moment I got close, she’d walk away.
In the end, I painstakingly picked up the doll’s pieces, spending hours fixing and gluing it back together, then kept it safe as a precious keepsake.
She pressed the doll to her face, murmuring, “Amelia, I misunderstood you. You really did care about the gift I gave you…”
Thinking about all the misunderstandings and wrongs over the years, Alexis couldn’t hold back anymore and burst into tears.
Underneath the doll, there was a notice for a miscarriage procedure.
Isaac was shocked, then picked up the notice.
The date was from six months ago, the same day Isaac broke with me and called me cruel for Nicole.
Six months ago, I was pregnant with his child.
up
While I was dreaming about our future together, Isaac suddenly fell for Nicole.
Chapter 5
8/10
I was confused and went to ask him, only to find Isaac kissing Nicole.
I was so disgusted, I threw up on the spot.
He let go of Nicole and looked at me with disgust. “Amelia, did you really think I didn’t know about your past? They told me everything. I can’t believe how selfish and cruel you are!”
I was stunned, not knowing what Caleb and Alexis had told him. “Isaac, don’t listen to them…”
Isaac pulled up Nicole’s sleeve to show me.
Her arms were covered in scars.
He snapped, “Amelia, Nicole is your sister and she’s sick. Can you stop being so cruel to her?”
Seeing her sneaky, challenging glance at me, I couldn’t hold back
anymore.
“I didn’t do it! She did it to herself, it has nothing to do with me! Nicole’s been framing me like this since we were kids…”
“You’re just like they say, a compulsive liar who never learns!” Isaac shoved me hard.
Caught off guard, I slammed into the table, the corner jabbing painfully into my stomach.
Chapter 5
9/10
“Isaac, my stomach hurts… I’m pregnant…” I gasped, my face pale with pain.
Nicole suddenly started crying, “Isaac, don’t be mad at Amelia! She’s always faking illnesses, I’m used to it!”
He thought I was lying, didn’t even look at me, and walked away holding Nicole’s hand.
Later, I called an ambulance myself and had Scarlett come over to stay with me.
That baby, it was lost then, killed by Isaac’s own hands.
Isaac held the miscarriage notice, looking like his soul had been sucked out. “Amelia was telling the truth. She really was carrying my child!”
The next second, he covered his face, tears slipping through his fingers. “I killed our baby, I killed own child…”
m
Watching the three of them in their grief, I thought I’d feel the same pain. But surprisingly, I felt nothing.
Maybe I’ve been through so much pain that I’m numb now.
To me, death would be a release.
At the bottom, there was a diary.
None of the three had the courage to pick up that diary.
Chapter 5
10/10
Seeing those scattered items, they finally realized just how deeply they had misunderstood and wronged me all these years, thanks to Nicole’s scheming.
Just a few small objects were enough for them to grasp the extent of my suffering and humiliation. So, how much more could there be in this diary that they couldn’t handle?
In the end, it was Caleb who slowly reached out and picked up the diary.
