When they returned to the hospital, the way they looked at Nicole had completely changed.
Nicole was a bit flustered but tried to stay calm. “Dad, Mom, what’s going on? Did you find Amelia’s belongings?”
Seeing Caleb and Alexis ignore her, Nicole turned to Isaac. “Isaac, did Amelia’s stuff have a lot of bad things about me? She’s always been a liar and a faker. Don’t believe her…”
A slap landed hard on Nicole’s face. The one who hit her was none other than Caleb, who had always cherished her.
“Nicole, what have you done to Amelia all these years? What else have you been hiding from us?”
Nicole held her face, panic setting in. “Dad, what are you talking about? It was all Amelia’s doing. I’m your favorite daughter!”
Alexis’s face was emotionless. “Yes, you’re our favorite daughter. But what about Amelia? How much pain and suffering did she endure? How much did she hurt when she died?”
How much did she hurt when she died?
That man invaded my body, torturing me mercilessly, then started slicing me up.

Listening to Alexis on the phone telling me never to come home again, he laughed coldly.
“Even your family doesn’t want you. What’s the point of living?”
Then he kept thrusting into me while cutting me into pieces. until I was completely dismembered.
I cried, I screamed, I didn’t even have the strength to fight back. My last bit of strength was used to make one final call to Alexis.
But that phone call? It was the nail in my coffin.
Seeing Alexis so confused, Nicole panicked. “Mom, Amelia’s dead and still trying to frame me. You have to believe me!”
Caleb hurled the diary at her. “Still lying, huh? You think we don’t know?”
The diary’s hard corner hit her forehead, making Nicole bleed.
That scene took me back to when I was ten, winning my first award, and Caleb didn’t even look at me. He threw the medal at me, making me bleed.
She opened the diary, and as she read, her face turned pale.
After a long pause, Nicole sneered, “Yeah, I did all that. But wasn’t it you who pushed Amelia into the abyss?”
Their faces froze instantly.

Nicole continued, “So many things could’ve been cleared up if you just thought, investigated a bit. But no, you didn’t even spend a second to hear her out. You didn’t want to believe Amelia, didn’t want to love her! You pushed her away, layer by layer, hurt by hurt! If I’m the one who killed her, you two handed me the knife!”
The truth was too brutal. Caleb and Alexis lunged at Nicole, ready to hit her.
She didn’t flinch, her eyes no longer innocent but filled with a malicious smile.
“Amelia died because of you two!”
Caleb and Alexis collapsed, falling to the ground.

“And you, Isaac.” Nicole turned to him. “You always claimed to love Amelia, but a few lies and some acting from me and my parents, and you gave up on her. Did you really love her? Or did you just love the perfect version of her, unable to accept the flaws we pointed out?”
“Shut up! If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have misunderstood Amelia, wouldn’t have lost our child, lost Amelia! It’s all your fault, you witch!” Isaac snapped, grabbing Nicole’s throat.
She could barely breathe, but her eyes still gleamed with malice. She laughed, “Hit a nerve, did I? Isaac, you’ve only ever loved yourself!”
“Shut up!” He lightened his grip, while Caleb and Alexis stood

Isaac only let go when Nicole was about to pass out, collapsing himself.
Pain engulfed his body, regret and sorrow crashing over him like a tidal wave. Isaac could barely breathe.
He remembered the first time he saw me, back when I was like a scared little deer, always on edge.
Isaac crouched down, clutching his head. “Amelia, I knew you were kind and pure. So why did I start believing others and push you away?”
How could the girl who would rescue an injured kitten from the street, always wearing a gentle smile, be the selfish and cruel person they claimed?
He just couldn’t resist temptation, ended up trusting the wrong people, and even killed his own child because of it…
My soul hovered above, watching it all with cold detachment. No pain, no satisfaction from the truth coming out.
I guess I’m numb now.
Or maybe, I just don’t care anymore.
Since no one loved me, in my next life, I’ll make sure to love
myself.

Seeing their pain and regret, Nicole finally dropped her fake facade, revealing her true malice.
“Dad, if I remember right, during the matching tests, besides
Amelia, your kidney was a match for me too, wasn’t it?”
Caleb’s head snapped up. “What are you saying?”
She gave a cruel smile.
“You’ve already caused one daughter’s death. Do you want to lose your last one too?”

Alexis and Isaac stared at her in shock, disbelief written all over their faces.
Nicole lay back down, turning her back to them.
“The doctor said if I don’t get a suitable kidney in three months, I’ll die. Dad, you better start making plans.”
After the initial shock wore off, the hope in their eyes slowly faded away until it was completely gone.
In that moment, they realized what they had been wrong about all along and what they had lost forever.
