Chapter 15
Stephen looked handsome and mature, his suit giving him a sharper presence than before.
As he looked at the two in front of him, his face remained neutral, barely showi
any emotion.
He was conducting today’s interviews personally to avoid missing any potential talent.
But to Diana, it seemed as though this interview had been prepared especially for her.
“Stephen… it’s really you. You’re back as Vice President. Does that mean you’re staying for good?”
Her eyes glistened with tears.
In the sunlight streaming through the floor–to–ceiling windows, he looked so tall and distant.
In that moment, she remembered how she’d once been drawn to his excellence, falling in love with his meticulous and devoted nature.
“Vice President…”
Wayne, standing beside her, turned dark with jealousy.
Seeing the admiration in Diana’s eyes, he realized why she’d been so friendly the night before–it had all been for Stephen, not him!
And now that Stephen was staying on as Vice President, it felt like his hopes were crushed all over again.
“The interview begins,” Stephen announced, ignoring Diana and proceeding with the formalities.
The other two interviewers, after looking into Diana and Wayne’s backgrounds, were ready to reject them both.
But Stephen, adhering to fairness, accepted both of them into a trial period.
The news nearly brought Diana to tears with excitement.
As long as she was in the company, she’d have a reason to see Stephen every day.
Since she lacked technical knowledge, she was assigned to a service position.
Her goal was now to work hard and climb up the ranks to become Stephen’s secretary, giving her more opportunities to be close to him.
“Stephen, let me get you a cup of tea.”
Watching Diana eagerly run around trying to help, Wayne felt his heart sink.
Stephen was so brilliant, holding titles like Lead Designer and Vice President at such a young age, while he was still just an intern.
How could someone like him ever hope to keep Diana’s attention?
Despair filled Wayne’s heart, followed closely by a surge of jealousy and resentment.
He needed a plan, something that would ruin Stephen’s reputation!
Meanwhile, Diana followed Stephen all the way to his office.
Noticing he didn’t have a secretary, she felt a thrill of excitement.
“Do you need something?”
As he moved to close the door, she quickly pulled out a pair of diamond rings.
“This is a gift I picked out for you.”
Looking at the beautifully crafted rings, Stephen’s thoughts immediately drifted back to two years ago.
At that time, he’d saved up to buy this same engagement ring set, hoping to propose to Diana.
But she kept putting it off, insisting on waiting until after graduation.
Back then, he’d urged her to get engaged, but she’d refused.
Now she was here, asking him to marry her.
The irony of it all was almost laughable.
Stephen gave it a brief glance. “Why would I need this? I don’t.”
“I saved half a year’s living expenses to buy this,” Diana said carefully. “It’s a thank–you for all you’ve done. You should accept it as a return gift.”
“You’re overthinking things. I’m just doing my job.”
Stephen took a step back. “And by the way, call me Vice President from now on. Treat me like anyone else.”
Bang!
The door shut tightly, leaving Diana standing outside, unceremoniously cut off.
What she’d thought was a sincere gesture meant nothing to Stephen.

Chapter 15
She realized she had truly broken his heart beyond repair.
Her efforts to make amends were now worthless.
In the following weeks, this scene played out almost daily at the company.
Soon, everyone knew about their past relationship.
Listening to all the gossip, Wayne felt even more uncomfortable.
After working overtime for two weeks, he finally managed to
