Chapter 16
As a core technical leader of the company, Stephen personally led a new propulsion engine project.
In just one month, the project had reached a critical phase and was nearing completion.
Once Wayne gained access, he secretly implanted a virus into the control system.
He waited until Diana wasn’t in the monitoring room and even deleted the surveillance footage from that time.
Everyone was busy with the final touches and noticed nothing
The delivery date arrived quickly.
In the spacious exhibition room, Stephen was explaining the latest technology to a group of Arab chents.
The clients were initially very pleased and ready to pay a deposit
But just as the engine was about to start, something went wrong.
“Boom!!”
The propulsion engine suddenly malfunctioned, veering off its track and heading straight for the crowd before ultimately breaking downL
Within five minutes of the incident, everyone involved was called into the conference room.
Bang!
“What were you thinking?! People could have been killed!”
Savage’s face was dark with anger. “The client is extremely disappointed in us, and the company has lost billions!”
“Whoever is responsible for this project will face strict accountability and serious consequences!”
At that moment, the other executives who didn’t get along with Stephen began pointing fingers.
“I remember this project was under Vice President Stephen’s leadership, right? Isn’t he supposed to be one of our core talents?”
“Making such a fundamental mistake, I think someone else should take his place.”
“Not just him—the whole department should be held accountable.”
Hearing this, Savage frowned.
He hadn’t expected someone as capable as Stephen to make such a major error.
Although he wanted to defend Stephen, he needed to demonstrate firm action in front of everyone.
Wayne was inwardly pleased, but Stephen stood up calmly.
“I have a complete record of all the testing procedures, showing that every step was conducted correctly.”
“I believe this was sabotage.”
Diana also stood up. “I can vouch for Vice President Stephen. We should investigate thoroughly before placing blame.”
The interns involved in the project had been hesitant to speak up against the executives, but Diana’s words encouraged them, and they joined in supporting Stephen.
With everyone backing Stephen, the executives had a hard time pushing their agenda.
Savage, seeing a way to save face, said, “Fine, I’ll grant you another chance,”
“I’ll give you five days to deliver a flawless project. If you fail, the punishment will stand.”
Seeing Stephen escape punishment with Diana speaking up for him made Wayne’s expression instantly turn cold.
Why?!
Why couldn’t he ever win against Stephen, and why did Diana always trust and side with him?
He’d finally had a chance to get Stephen removed, and he wasn’t about to let it slip away.
Soon, Wayne’s mind conjured a new plan, and he couldn’t help but smirk.
In the Vice President’s office, Diana was busy preparing documents.
Stephen entered with a frown.
“Who let you into my office?”
“I’m trying to help investigate this matter. Don’t worry, Stephen; I’ll catch whoever’s sabotaging you.”
“Leave.”
Stephen tapped the desk and said coldly, “The surveillance footage from that time was deleted,”
