Chapter 19

“I reviewed a whole month of surveillance footage. I know every detail.”
Diana had watched each day’s footage at least twice, determined to catch the real culprit.
While she hadn’t found direct evidence of Wayne accessing the control panel, she did see him suspiciously holding a USB drive in other surveillance angles.
If her suspicions were correct, something was definitely off with it.
No matter how Wayne tried to explain, when the USB drive was tested and found to contain a virus, his guilt was undeniable.
“Diana, please don’t do this!”
He pleaded desperately, “If you expose me, my life will be ruined!”
“Did you think of this moment when you sabotaged Stephen?”
Diana was shaking with anger, barely restraining herself from tearing him apart.
“I didn’t mean to! I only wanted to download files–I had no idea there was a virus on it…”
Wayne instantly shifted to a pitiful act, bowing his head repeatedly until he was bleeding.
His pathetic display stirred a hint of sympathy in Diana.
It even reminded her of her own humble apologies to Stephen.
After knowing him for so long, she almost wanted to believe that her “little brother” wasn’t capable of such cruelty.
Seeing her hesitation, Wayne inwardly smirked.
She was still under his influence–she must still care about him.
“My dear sister, you know I’m not like that.”
Tears streamed down his face. “I’ve never blamed Stephen. I know this is all my fault, and I’ve been doing everything I can to make it up to you both.”
Diana’s heart finally softened.
But in the next second, she noticed a medical report on Wayne’s desk.
It had Stephen’s name on it.
“Why do you have his medical report?”
Wayne couldn’t stop her from grabbing it.
Diana froze as she read the report.
The page was covered in highlighted data.
Low immunity, five allergens…
And one of those allergens was mushrooms, the very thing she’d brought to him.
It all made sense now.
“Wayne, you’re despicable.”
Slap!
Wayne felt the burning sting on his face, his smugness replaced by terror.
“Diana, I know I was wrong!”
“Please, don’t turn me in. I’ll apologize to Stephen, I’ll do anything…”
“Get out!”
Diana’s eyes were red, her voice hoarse with rage.
If she had never gotten involved with Wayne, none of this would have happened.
Thinking of Stephen’s pale face in the hospital bed, her heart ached.
“Wayne, I’ll never forgive you!”
“From now on, don’t ever show your face to me again.”
She threw the report at him, then stormed toward the CEO’s office.
An hour later, a company–wide announcement went out, and the police arrived to investigate.
Wayne’s actions had not only harmed the company’s interests but were also illegal. The company filed a lawsuit against him.

His belongings were thrown out as he sat on the floor, completely devastated.
He only wanted to win Diana back–was that so wrong?
Love, work, his entire life… twenty years of effort, and now he had nothing.
His colleagues looked at him with disgust and contempt.
In contrast, Stephen had been promoted and received a raise, admired by everyone.
The stark difference twisted Wayne’s mind further.
“Stephen, it’s all because of you!”
“I won’t let you get away with this–I never will!”
After he was taken away for questioning, the company returned to normal.
Because of her role in exposing Wayne, Diana was offered a permanent position. Savage even gave her a choice for her promotion. “Tell me, do you want to join the Marketing Department or Management?”
