“Tilgive Selena back to you Hearing these words from Zion felt almost laughable.
“Elon, you must be joking.” I said, barely able to hide my irritation. “You look Selena away from me. You wanted her—so take responsibility like a man.”
I watched as he looked away, clearly wounded, but I felt no sympathy. “And let’s be clear–Selena isn’t some object you can give back whenever you feel like it. She chase you- that was her decision. It has nothing to do with me.”
“Can’t you see?” Zion finally said, his voice strained. “Deep down, she still loves you.”
Something in my words must’ve triggered him because suddenly, Zlon sat down, overwhelmed, and began to tell me the full story.
He explained that after I had that last conversation with Selena, she went home in silence. He thought she was just upset over the divorce and that she would eventually get over it.
But in the days that followed, things started to spiral. Selena constantly compared him to me, always putting him down. He was trustrated but couldn’t do anything except try to please her and hope she would move on.
About two weeks later, Selena made it clear to him–she loved him, yes, but she couldn’t let go of me or the years we had shared as husband and wife. She wanted to tight for out marriage, thinking maybe after her infatuation with him faded, she would still choose me.
Zion felt desperate and helpless, so he took it upon himself to block any path of her back to me. He introcopted messages, provided the wrong contact information, and did everything he could to keep us out of touch.
There was even a time when Selena came to my office looking for me, but by then, had already accepted a position at a branch office in a different city. Given the confidentiality requirements, no one could tell her my new location, and with Zion’s interference, she couldn’t find me.
Unable to contact me or track me down, she started to unravel

In desperation, she flooded the internet with posts looking for me, even offering a reward for information. By that time, though, I had taken a step back from the world, decaling to cut down on screen time and barely even checking my work messages.
For reasons I still don’t understand, the messages she posted reached masas if they got lost in the endless digital noise
It was only after she realized I was truly unreachable, gone from her life completely, that the gravity of loss became too much for her. And that’s what led her to attempt suicide. Zion finished his story, looking at me with attire of bitterness and regret
