A few days later, Cindy called me. “Why are you doing this to me, Rainey?”
“What are you talking about? What am I doing to you?” I retorted.
“Shaun doesn’t believe me!” she shrieked. “Did you say something to him?”
“Yes, I did. I told him everything. I hadn’t borrowed money from you and never went out shopping with you. I’m a busy woman, after all. Where am I supposed to find the time for that?”
Cindy was furious. “Rainey, I’ve been good to you. Why are you treating me like this?”
I snorted. “Your husband came to my house and attacked me. Cindy Chase, you’re the cause of all this, and now you’re questioning me? What right do you have?”
“Just you wait,” she yelled. “I won’t let this go!
What a coincidence. I wasn’t going to let her go too.

I registered a new social media account and texted Shaun, “Cindy is mine. If you dare mistreat her, I’ll kill you!”
Predictably, Shaun was riled up. “Who are you? Where are you now?”
“I just met up with her not too long ago. That night in the hotel… What a pity it was cut short!”
After sending that message, I turned off my phone so that he wouldn’t be able to text me. He was probably livid now.
Cindy did not dare to continue staying at the hospital. However, the reporters had somehow found out where she lived and camped out outside her house.
I took it further by visiting Cindy’s neighborhood, mingling with the other locals there, and dropping occasional hints about what Cindy had done.
It wasn’t even slander–I didn’t need to make anything up. Cindy had done everything I was saying and then more. She was cheating on her husband with another man. Why should I take the fall for that?
This was all her own doing.
Soon enough, Cindy’s family became notorious in their neighborhood. According to the neighbors, Shaun could be heard yelling angrily every night.
When the time felt right, I released all the evidence I had gathered online with the caption, “Life advice: stay away from toxic friends, and your life will be so much easier!”
The comments flooded in almost instantly.
“Rainey, is this Cindy? Oh my God! She told me you were dating multiple guys at the same time!”
“She told me that too! She also said that you borrowed money from her and never repaid her!”
I couldn’t help but laugh before replying, “That’s all nonsense. I’ve already hired a lawyer to sue her for defamation. I’ll need you guys to testify for me!”
I took a screenshot of those comments and privately messaged the commenters. Later, I created a group chat with them and added my lawyer.
At first, they were reluctant to testify for me, but once I told them the whole story, they were outraged by Cindy’s shamelessness.
