“Yeah, she was. She’s working as a dishwasher now. When she saw me that day, she cried so much I felt bad for her, so I introduced her to the job.
“That’s the only kind of job that would take her anyway. What a pity. She’d had
everything, but she ruined it for herself. If she’d just settled down with Shaun, none of this would’ve happened!”
From him, we found out that Cindy had been tormented by Elizabeth for three years. Her

leg was broken during that time. She only managed to escape when Elizabeth suffered a stroke from an accident.
By then, she was penniless and destitute.
She couldn’t bear children, looked old, and had no working experience at all. On top of that, she was disabled–who would hire her? Even cleaning jobs required a physically healthy person.
Plus, she was badly disfigured. No one dared to hire her for fear of scaring their customers.
Ryan had introduced her to a dishwashing job at a restaurant out of the kindness of his heart. She wouldn’t have to face customers in that position, but even so, she was still
shunned and excluded.
I did not feel any sympathy at all hearing this. She deserved all this.
One wrong step had led to another–Cindy probably never thought that a simple lie would snowball into endless deceptions.
Ironically, her family, whom she cared so much for, abandoned her when they found out that she was destitute.
Even if she regretted everything now, it was too late.
Then again, none of this had anything to do with me.
I just sat at the table, chatting with my old classmates about our bright futures. I would be able to look forward to my life ahead.

My name was Cindy Chase. I had a younger brother, Charles Chase.
Growing up, I was constantly reminded that everything in the family belonged to Charles. If I wanted something, I could only have it if Charles didn’t want it.
Thankfully, even though my parents didn’t care about me, they still allowed me to finish high school and attend college.
In college, I felt resentful when I saw my peers dressed in nice clothes and using fancy things.
One day, a classmate told me that all her nice things were gifts from her boyfriend. That made me realize one thing–I might not have enough money, but I could find a man to provide for me.
I set my sights on Shaun Cross. I’d seen the birthday present he’d bought for Rainey Lane- a necklace that was worth over 1,000 dollars.

Rainey hadn’t accepted the gift, but I was hooked.
I seduced Shaun and convinced him to be with me instead. After graduating, I married him.
Shaun’s family was well–off. After marrying him, I did not need to worry about financial issues. However, my parents frequently asked me for money, so I used Rainey as my scapegoat.
When she graduated, I convinced her to stay in this city so that I could continue to use her as a shield to cover my own needs. Unfortunately, I’d overplayed my hand. Rainey got wise to my lies and exposed me.
Shaun threatened to kill me when he found out the truth. Terrified, I begged him for mercy, but in the end, I had to play dead in order to escape his rage.
But due to that ordeal, I’d lost my ability to have children.
I hated Elizabeth Simmons. She’d tricked me into going back to her hometown, where she’d tormented me. I pushed her off the stairs one day, causing her to have a severe stroke. That was how I finally escaped her clutches.
However, I couldn’t find a job after that. It was only through an old classmate’s kindness that I managed to make enough for survival.
I regretted everything now. In my next life, I would plan more carefully.
