I gritted my teeth and said, “Save her! She’s my daughter. She has nothing to do with him. Save her!”
Nathan sneered. “Nothing to do with me? I’m her husband. I said we’re not paying for that child’s treatment. So, no treatment for her!”
Cameron snapped, “He’s not Ms. Harriet’s husband!”
Before she could say more, Nathan kicked her hard. The force sent her flying back into the cabinet by the bed. Cameron crumpled to the floor as she clutched her side in pain.
Nathan pointed at her furiously. “You little punk! It’s because of you! You’re always stirring things up around Harriet, and now, our relationship is falling apart!”
Cameron got up from the floor and ignored Nathan. Instead, she looked at the nurse and said, “That child is very important to Ms. Harriet. Please, I beg you, save that little girl. Ms. Harriet can afford any amount.”
Nathan’s face twisted with rage. “Save her? Over my dead body! This is my family’s business. Who gave an outsider like you the authority to say anything?”
He grabbed her by her hair, slammed her to the floor, and punched her repeatedly. She started crying out loud and tried to pull Nathan off. But he fought her off and kept attacking.
Beatrice also joined in and started kicking Cameron.
I gritted my teeth and tried to muster some strength to help Cameron. But I was too weak and could barely move, let alone call for help.
The nurse could no longer stand and watch Nathan assault Cameron. She tried to pull Nathan and Beatrice off him.
Nathan’s eyes were bloodshot as he turned on the nurse who had tried to stop him. He grabbed her by the leg and slammed her to the floor. She scrambled away and shouted for help from the doorway.
Nathan walked over and grabbed her by the ankle. But before he could do anything else, a group of burly men rushed in after hearing the commotion. They kicked Nathan to the ground and restrained him and Beatrice.
Beatrice turned and yelled, “You shameless witch! You’ll turn that girl into someone just like you! Let me tell you this! That illegitimate child will never be allowed in our family. And this girl? She needs to be fired!”
Beatrice cried and cursed at me. Soon, someone in the crowd recognized us.
“Are you the woman who had an affair?”
