Chapter 6: Get Out

Chapter 6 Get Out

(Scarlett’s POV

The relentless butting in my head was maddening. Ever since I slammed the door on Alexander, my mind had been under siegedozens of wolves trying to break through the walls of my mental defenses. Each new whisper was like a nail being driven into my skull

Scarlett

your actions are unacceptable”

Luna Sarah insists you return immediately.”

it’s time you stopped this childish behavior

The messages ditted in and out persistent and unyielding. Some voices were apologetic. Others pried, more demanding and aggressive. But they all had one thing in commonthey camed Sarah’s influence

I leaned back in my chair, massaging my temples, trying to block out the constant noise. Around me, the office felt suffocating, as if the very walls were pressing down on me. Cora, my wolf, growled softly in the back of my mind. Her imitation mirrored my own

They’re not going to stopEmma’s voice interrupted my simmering thoughts. She had been listening in, her tone sharp with frustration. Scarlett

just block them all. You don’t owe them anythingnot your time, not your mental energy.”

I closed my eyes and let out a slow exhale, willing my heartbeat to steady. Emma was right. They wanted answers. They wanted submission. Neither

of which was going to give

Good ideaI muttered aloud. With a deliberate effort, I strengthened my mental shields. The faint whispers abruptly cut off, plunging my mind into

blessed silence

I finally sighed in relief, the tension in my shoulders loosening just slightly. But I knew better than to think Sarah would give up this easily

The next show of Sarah’s control came swiftly

That night, I attempted to visit the pack’s hunting grounds to gather herbssomething I’d done countless times without issue. It was a quiet space located deep in the forest, and I had access permissions handed to me years ago. But when I tried to scan my ID at the gate, the machine let out a loud

unwelcoming beep

Access deniedthe screen read in glaring red text Authorization revoked.”

I stared at the message for a brief moment before letting out a bitter chuckle

“Petty,i muttered under my breath

Beside me, Emma was bristling. Her pale cheeks flushed with anger as her wolf flared in protest. They revoked your access?she growled. This is

insane, Scarlett! You’ve done nothing but serve this pack. This is how they repay you? By stripping away your rights?”

I

I shrugged, pretending like it didn’t sting as much as it actually did. Nothing surprises me anymore,” I said simply

Emma’s fists curled tightly at her sides as she turned to me. This is Sarahs doing, she said heatedly just know it. She’s probably sitting there with

Grace plotting all of this. She lets thatthat manipulative little brat pull the strings, and now this-”

Let it go, Emma,I cut in, my tone steady. I wasn’t about to waste any more time or energy on Sarah’s schemes

  1. ou. You can come with

Let me talk to my pack, Emma said suddenly. Her piercing blue eyes met mine with determination. 1 get access codes for you

me and-”

No”

Emma blinked at me, caught off guard by my sharp refusal

I softened my tone slightly offering her a faint, knowing smile. I don’t need their resources. I have other places I can go”

Emma didn’t seem convinced

She followed me silently as I drove through unfamiliar backroads, her curiosity growing with every tum we took. When I finally pulled into a hidden

dirt path she couldn’t hold back any longer

Where are we?she asked suspiciously, glancing around at the dense, overgrown trees

You’ll see,I said cryptically, stepping out of the car

At the end of the path was what looked like a large, battered warehouse. Rusted metal doors loomed ahead of us, their exterior giving no sign of what lay beyond. Emma looked at me doubtfully

This is a joke, right?she asked

I didn’t answer. Instead, I pushed one of the doors open, revealing a lively, sprawling space that was anything but abandoned. Warm golden light spilled out from uncovered lanterns, Illuminating rows of market stalls and vendors. The air was rich with the mingling scents of herbs, spices, and enchanted items

The Shadow Market,” I explained, stepping deeper into the chaotic yet strangely ordered environment. Neutral territory. No pack loyalty. No pack

interference

Emma’s jaw dropped slightly as her eyes darted back and forth, taking in the array of rare goods on display. From ancient spell books to crystals radiating faint mystical energy, the sheer amount of power in one place was staggering

How.. how do you even know about this place?she asked, her tone filled with genuine disbelief

I smirked faintly but didn’t answer. Instead, I walked toward a vendor selling rare healing herbs, picking out the finest bundles without hesitation. The vendor greeted me with polite deference, and I paid him barely any attention. He knew me; no further words were needed

After a while, Emma was finally coaxed out of her surprised stupor. “I knew you were resourceful,” she admitted, but thisthis is insane, Scarlett Who else knows?”

No one that matters,I replied simply

When I reached the p***** counter, I pulled out a sleek obsidian token marked with a crest. It was intricate yet subtle, its faint engraving impossible to miss in the candlelight

Emma’s eyes widened instantly. “That symbolshe whispered is thatthe Shadow Clan’s crest?”

The vendor accepted the token without hesitation, completing the transaction smoothly. I tucked the bundle of herbs under my arm and turned back to Emma, who was still staring at the token in shock

Scarlett, she began carefully, how did you”

Don’t,I cut in, my tone soft but firm. Don’t ask questions you don’t want the answers to.”

Emma held her tongue, though I could see the dozens of questions dancing behind her eyes. Instead, she nodded, reluctantly dropping the subject, and we left the market in peaceful silence

When I returned home that same evening, Irritation greeted me almost immediately

The second I stepped through the front door, the strong stench of smoke assaulted my senses. It was acrid and invasive, making Cora growl low in my mind

I knew who it was before I even looked up

Alexander stood in the center of my living room, his broad frame dominating the small space. His amber eyes locked onto mine, glowing faintly with the anger he was barely suppressing

He had been waiting, Hours, judging by the slight strain in his normally composed expression. The way he held himself was tight and tense, like a coiled spring ready to snap at the slightest provocation

Why did you block the pack link?he demanded immediately

I didn’t bother entertaining his question. Instead, I crossed the room to open a window, letting the night breeze wash away the nauseating scent of cigarettes

Scarlett,” he tried again, lowering his tone but keeping the edge of authority. Answer me

I turned to face him then, my lips curving into a mocking smile. Why? Is it so

Is it so hard to keep tabs on me while tending to your poor, sick Grace?”

3/3

His jaw clenched so tightly that I thought it might snap. He exhaled sharply through his nostris, his irritation palpable

You’re being unreasonable,” he growled

Chapter 7 My Territory

No,I shot back coolly, stepping forward until I met the full force of his domineering presence. What’s unreasonable is you barging into my house when I made it very clear I’m done playing this game with you”

You don’t understand; he snapped, his voice rising slightly. His amber eyes bore into mine, flickering with frustration. This isn’t about Grace”

Isn’t a Ibn out, cutting him off

My voice rose, and I stepped closer, so close that the tension hung heavy between us. Then why are you here right now, Alexander? Shouldn’t you be at her bedside, comforting her? Or are you finally realizing that you can’t control me anymore?”

His face darkened at that, his wolf’s power flashing briefly across the room

He moved quickly then, his hand shooting out to grab my arm in an attempt to anchor me, to assert his dominance

It was a mistake

My claws extended sharply, and I seized his throat the next instant. My grip was firm but deliberate, just tight enough for him to feel my power

Do that again, I said softly but with a lethal edge, my tone layered with Cora’s growl, and I’ll make sure you regret it.”

For a moment, he stilled, his eyes locked on mine. Amber met emerald, the air crackling with power

But instead of backing down, he tilted his head slightly, his expression shifting into something darkerhungrier

Before I could react, he leaned closer, his lips crashing against mine in a kiss that was neither tender nor welcome. It was rough, a show of dominance, an illconceived attempt to regain control

The moment his touch registered, I acted

My grip around his throat tightened, and with a sharp shove, I pushed him backward with enough force to send him staggering

His breath hitched as he caught his balance, his amber eyes wide with disbelief

Cora surged beneath my skin, radiating power as I stepped forward until he had no choice but to retreat toward the door

Now, I continued, my tone steady and commanding, “get out of here before I snap your neck
