Aeris’s face turned pale.
“These are fake! You had someone forge them!” she yelled, lunging to snatch the documents.
Drake pushed her aside, his expression full of confusion.
Inside it were clear records of bank transfers, copies of agreements signed in Aeris’s handwriting, and chat logs.
Each page hit Drake like a heavy hammer, shattering his belief.
“Why did you do this?” Drake’s voice trembled as he asked Aeris. “They forced you, didn’t they?”
“Yes, yes, it was Lyra! She forced me!” Aeris hastily explained. “You’re my mate! I loved you so much. How could I leave you for money?”
I didn’t force her! I silently protested, but like always nothing could reach Drake’s ears,
Caden then pulled out another set of documents and handed it to Drake.
“This,” he said, “is proof of Aeris’s abortion overseas. This is the real reason she left you. Three years ago, she was pregnant, but the child wasn’t yours. She cheated on you while you were together. Fearing that you’d find out, she left. Before she left, she even exploited Lyra’s love for you to trick her family out of a large sum of money.”
I was stunned. I never imagined Caden could uncover such a secret–something even I didn’t
know.
“This is impossible… it’s impossible,” Drake murmured, the documents slipping from his hands and dropping on the floor, mocking his ignorance.
Aeris clung tightly to Drake.
“Don’t listen to him! He’s making all this up because he liked Lyra and wants to take revenge on me! Drake, you have to believe me!”
