“I just came to lay some flowers.

He placed a colorful bouquet of roses on my grave.
I stared at him sadly.

When I was alive, he never allowed roses in our home. Every corner was filled with jasmine, the flower that symbolized Aeris.
You finally remember, Drake that I’m a rose, not a jasmine.
“The rogues

Chapter 10
“The soldiers of the Wolf Council have taken them in. Today, we found out that the mastermind behind it all was also… Aeris.”
Drake’s eyes welled up, but he quickly wiped them. His expression was a mixture of guilt, pain, and anger.
Caden was visibly stunned. His mouth hung open, but no words came out.
That’s when I understood why the rogues had used such a specific type of wolf poison on me- and why Aeris returned so quickly after I was injured.
It had all been Aeris’s plan from the start!
“You were right. I’m the one who ruined Lyra!” Drake said, his voice heavy with regret. “Aeris has been arrested. She’ll spend the rest of her life in prison. I’m so glad I never marked her.”
Drake reached out and touched my photo on the headstone.
“Lyra, you are my only mate!”
But his belated apology and confession no longer moved me. It made me feel no emotions. Instead I felt lighter, so lighter.
Finally, my time had come to say my final goodbye.
The moonlight gently caressed me, as if inviting me to merge with its embrace.
I felt my soul floating and everything around me was gradualy blurring.
My floating form stopped by Caden and gently caressed his face.
“Thank you, Caden, for being part of my life. If there’s a next life, I hope I meet you first.”
He stood there, stunned, as if he’d heard something–or perhaps not.
I turned back one last time to look at him. He stood beneath the moon, tears threatening to spill off his eyes.
“Goodbye, Caden.”
