Chapter 3
When I checked out of the hotel and was about to leave, Henry’s mother, Megan Williams, contacted me. She was one of the few people here who genuinely cared about me.
“Sweetie, did you and Henry have a fight?
“Yesterday, I went to Williams Group and didn’t see you. Someone told me you were transferred to Spring County. Tell me if Henry did something wrong, and I’ll make sure he fixes it.”
I moved Megan’s hand away from mine and said seriously, “Henry and I have already broken up.
“I’m leaving today, and I might not come back.”
“Broken up?” Megan sat up straight in shock, looking at me with concern. “Did Henry do something wrong?
“Is it because of that new secretary?”
My eyes darkened.
“I’ve already made things clear with him. Thank you for your kindness before.
“I’ve booked a flight for this afternoon, and I’m running out of time. I’m sorry.”
I stood up, grabbed my suitcase, and was about to leave, but Megan held onto my luggage tightly.
“Sweetie, listen to me. Men are all fickle. He just made a mistake that

Megan, holding her injured waist, stared in shock at Henry’s
retreating figure. She slapped her thigh and cried, “How did I end up with such a son? He abandoned such an excellent girlfriend and ran
into the arms of a bad woman.”
Then she looked at me pitifully and said, “Sweetie, take me to the hospital. I’ll make sure Henry comes back to his senses.”
I frowned and glanced at my watch. I was running out of time, so I refused, “I’ll call an ambulance for you. Goodbye.”
As I left, I heard wailing and crying behind me.
By the time I boarded the plane, the news of the engagement between the heir of Steers Group and the heiress of Mitchell Group had already gone viral, accompanied by a side–profile photo of me and Antonio at the banquet.
And my contractual fiancé was already waiting for me at the airport.
