Chapter 8
After the banquet, Antonio took me home. As soon as he left, a figure suddenly emerged from the shadows.
I looked at him coldly and said impatiently, “Henry, have you had enough? You know I have a fiancé, yet you still dare to disturb me? Let me remind you again that we have already broken up.”
Henry’s eyes were bloodshot, and he gritted his teeth as he said, “I don’t agree, Cynthia. You lied to me. What you say doesn’t count.”
I looked at him curiously. “I haven’t told any lies. Why are you acting like I hurt you?”
He said angrily, “You should have told me earlier that you are the heiress of Mitchell Group. If I had known, I wouldn’t have believed Annie’s words and thought you were a slut. I wouldn’t have thought you were sleeping with clients to secure orders. Things between us
wouldn’t have turned out like this.”
I rolled my eyes.
“Henry, do you believe everything Annie says? Are you a child?
“Every order was secured through my negotiation skills. It has nothing to do with my background.

“You cheated, yet you’re pushing all the blame onto me. You really have no shame.”

Henry’s face turned pale, and he stared at me, saying forcefully, “Anyway, I don’t agree with the breakup.
“I only made this one mistake. Why can’t you forgive me? Most successful men have scandals. Compared to them, I’ve been quite restrained.”
I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. Henry’s shamelessness left me speechless.
Seeing that I didn’t respond, Henry thought there might still be room for reconciliation. He stepped forward and coaxed me in a soft voice, “Cynthia, I know I was wrong. Please forgive me.
“I really love you. When you’re not by my side, I feel empty
inside.
“I swear I won’t even glance at other women from now on. Marry me. My mom is still at home, hoping for you, hoping we’ll have a child.”
Just as I was thinking about how to curse him, my dad’s voice suddenly came from the yard.
“Get the fuck out of here.”
My dad ran over from the doorway with a large shovel, continuously hitting Henry’s back and buttocks.

He cursed while hitting him, “You scumbag, how dare you come looking for my daughter. I’ll kill you.
“I won’t agree to you two getting married.
“Give up on this idea. Get the hell out of here.”
Henry was jumping from the blows. At first, he tried to beg my dad for mercy and explained, but eventually, he couldn’t take it anymore and ran away.
After Henry left, my dad looked at me sternly, still holding the shovel.
“Do you still want to marry him? Haven’t you learned your lesson yet?”
I forced a bitter smile, took the tool from his hands, and said cautiously, “How could I? I don’t like him anymore.”
My dad glared at me. “Antonio is a good man. You can’t let him down.”
I kept assuring him that I wouldn’t have any contact with Henry again before finally coaxing him to go back home.
