CHAPTER 16
ARIA’S POV
+25 BONUS
Regis invited me to a party. Actually, I did not feel like it, but he said that now was the right time for me to focus on my career. In a way, he was right. These days, to forget everything that Adam has done to me, I need a distraction or rather, to be more selfish and take myself more seriously.
Part of me wants to stay indoors and reflect on the events that have affected my life. But looking at the bright side, I am now free. I was alone in this relationship all along. I have shed blood, sweat and tears, yet what have I gotten in return? Lies, betrayals, ill–treatment and my freedom being taken away from me.
Thinking about my dad angers me further. I have never felt safe around any men; not Adam and now my Dad. I wonder how my brothers will be. The only man who is my backbone is Regis. It seems that Grandpa and he understand me the most.
I feel lazy to get ready for a party and the way Regis puts it, it is a big event. He is making sure every business tycoon in the USA attends the party. There’s one problem though, I don’t know what I should wear for this party.
My mind Immediately goes to Stella, she would be a great help since she’s a designer. We’ve known each other since college, and has since become best friends. Honestly, I love her vibes. She is such a cool girl. She has some secrets and I find it hard to believe how she managed to hide her identity so well from everyone.
Besides me, no one knows that she is the famous fashion designer, Stella Newton. She tells me the limelight disturbs her a lot and she only likes to roam around freely. The funniest part is that even in her own company, no one knows what she looks like. I asked her how she managed to conceal her identity and she told me by just wearing a mask.
She kind of reminds me of Sia, the Australian singer who used to hide her face to the world. Apart from hiding stuff from the world, Stella is a very kind–hearted lady. I have not yet told her about my problems with Adam, but I am planning on doing so soon.
But right now, I need her help. She is the best person who can help me. Therefore, I pick my mobile and call her immediately.
“Hey, Aria… What’s up?” Stella asks energetically, as soon as she picks up the phone.
“Nothing much… I am in a fix right now?” I reply instantly.
“Tell me, what’s the matter?” Stella asks, paying attention to me.
“I have an event tomorrow night and I don’t know what to wear?” I huff.
“Aww, don’t worry, I got you!” Stella exclaims joyfully.
“I know I can count on you, that’s why I rang you up.” I chuckle, and then ask, “Are you free to go to the mall with me then?”
“Of course I’m free!!!” Stella readily says.
We set a time a location to meet. As we disconnect, I feel like a burden being taken off my shoulders already.
Glancing at the time, I quickly put on my jacket and head out of the house, to meet Stella.
As I meet Stella at the mall, the lovely and slender blonde lady welcomes me with the sweetest smile. Her blue eyes flash with happiness.

“Aria!!! Good to see you,” Stella hugs me and kisses my cheek.
I hug back, and tell her about my situation with Adam. She’s sympathetic towards me. She thinks I deserve better. It’s funny, anyone in their right mind would say that I am crazy for divorcing Adam, because he’s so much” better” than me, and he’s out of my league. But Stella doesn’t think so, I guess this is why she’s my best friend.
“So, what kind of dress are you looking for?” Stella asks me
“There’s a very important event tomorrow and I badly need a dress. I really don’t know what to wear,”
“Well, is your ex–husband going to be there?” Stella asks me.
“I’m not sure, why?
“I’ll have just designed a dress that I believe will suit you,” Stella says.
“A ready–made dress?” I ask, astonished.
“Let’s go with me and you can try it on. If there are any alterations to be done, we can do it first thing in the morning, consider this as a divorce present for you.” she winks.
“Alright… Thank you so much, Stella,” I chuckle.
I’m so excited to get to try a dress that was made by my best friend! I’m sure this dress will get me all the attention I want! But I never thought of that my dress could be a trap for me…
