CHAPTER 26
ARIA’S POV
I can’t believe my eyes! Adam, here at the store? The shock is mirrored on Eva’s face as she registers the unexpected presence of her brother.
I stand frozen in place, unable to move, while Stella, with a knowing look, seems to grasp the situation perfectly.
Eva rushes to her brother like an eager child anticipating an ice cream treat, her excitement palpable as she reaches out to him.
“Adam?”
Eva was going to hit me when Adam arrived and his glance shifted from Eva to me and back to her.
“Were you going to hit Aria?!”
Despite my satisfaction in Adam witnessing his sister’s behavior first–hand, I remain indifferent to to defend me.
his attempts
Therefore, I take a step back, disengaging from the situation and showing no interest in Adam’s involvement.
Stella holds me by the arm, whispering, “You’re divorced now… Don’t run away.”
Absolutely. Why should I step back? There is a surge of satisfaction coursing through me, knowing that Adam has finally seen his sister’s true colors. It is a validation of everything I have endured, a glimmer of justice in the midst of chaos.
Then, to my surprise, I hear Adam asking Eva to shed some light on what has transpired before his arrival. My curiosity piqued, I wait eagerly for Eva’s response, eager to see how the truth will unfold.
But to my utter disappointment, Eva spins a web of lies, further obscuring the truth and leaving me feeling frustrated and disillusioned.
Eva impulsively covers up the situation, fabricating a story about her attempt to mend their relationship by buying clothes for me after the party fiasco. The audacity of her deceit leaves me speechless, a bitter taste of frustration and anger rising in my throat.
Does she honestly believe I shall stand idly by while she spouts lies? I have never held any respect for Eva, and now, more than ever, I see she deserves none!
I can’t help but snigger loudly. Karma has dealt Eva a harsh blow, and now only to end up looking more ridiculous than ever. It is a moment of poetic justice that I can’t help but relish.
Adam’s gaze shifts to me, a questioning look in his eyes as he wonders what Eva sald to elicit such a loud laugh
from me.
“I knew that you were stupid, but I could never thought that you were so immature, Eva!”
Eva’s face flushes red with embarrassment, her anger palpable as she struggles to maintain her composure in the face of my laughter.
“How would you know? I wanted to surprise you,” Eva has the guts to add on.
“Really?! Wow! Was the slap included in the gift too?”
Does she honestly believe I’ll let this slide?
“There was a fly hovering around you.”

Eva’s face contorts with fury, her eyes ablaze with anger as she attempts to charge at me. But Adam’s stem command stops her in her tracks, and I can sense her frustration boiling beneath the surface.
A rush of exhilaration floods through me as I watch the scene unfold, savoring every moment of the chaos and feasting in the satisfaction of seeing Eva plans unravel.
To my astonishment, I watch as Adam reaches into his pocket, retrieving his leather wallet and pulling out his card. With a determined expression, he hands it over to the clerk, signaling his intent to intervene in the situation.
Please swipe my card.”
Suddenly, Eva’s expressions shift from irritation to pride. It’s as if she expected nothing less from Adam–to come to her rescue, to pamper his sister, and to save her dignity in public, covering her flaws with his generosity.
Once again, Eva will walk out of this door with expensive clothes! The clerk packs all the paid items and hands over the shopping bag to Adam, cementing Eva’s victory in the situation.
However, when Adam finally comes face to face with me and speaks, I am taken aback by his words.
“Here, Aria… They are all yours.”
