After Leo left with Rosette, everyone came up to help me gather what was left of Dianne’s ashes.
In the end, I ended up stuffing crumbs of pieces of the carpet, chunks of soil, and shreds of fruit into the urn. They were all stained with Dianne’s ashes.
I buried Dianne the same day.
After burying her, there was nothing more for me to worry about. I wandered numbly around the house and began thinking about how I could exact revenge for her. Even if it meant I would take them down with me, I would do it.
Three days later, Helena came to visit me at my house. Her mother happened to be a doctor at the same hospital where Dianne and Rosette were admitted.
She revealed a shocking secret to me.
All the hate inside me boiled over, and I completely lost my senses from thereon. I threw all caution out the window and rushed straight to the apartment Leo had bought for Rosette.
I then made a scene in the reception like a madwoman and told everyone about what Rosette had been doing.
Leo had to take me back to their unit to shut me up.
As soon as I entered, I rushed up to Rosette and slapped her across the face. I wanted to tear her apart.
By the time Leo managed to pull me away from her, her cheeks were already swollen. She cried hysterically and burrowed herself into Leo’s arms.
I shrugged off Leo’s arm and sneered menacingly at him. “Leo, how would you react if I told you that Dianne never had to donate her kidney to Rosette in the first place?
“She seduced you and manipulated you with her lies so that you would take our daughter’s kidney. Would you still see her as your salvation and love her with complete devotion?”
Leo stared at me in disbelief. “What do you mean?”
