devotion?”
Leo stared at me in disbelief. “What do you mean?”
With that, I tossed the printed report of the hospital’s organ donor list in his face. Then, I glared vehemently at Rosette and accused her, “The hospital already has a suitable kidney donor for you, so why didn’t you take it? Why did you insist on taking my daughter’s kidney?”
When Leo read the report, all the color drained from his face.
He grabbed Rosette by her shoulders and pushed her away to question her, “It says here the hospital found a suitable match for you a month ago. Why didn’t you take it? Is what Clarice is saying true?”

She shifted her gaze dodging away and scrambled for a response. “Leo, you’re… you’re hurting me!”
“Answer me!”
Rosette was taken aback by his furious growl. Then, tears began to swell in her eyes as she whimpered, “I–I don’t know. Leo, I’m not feeling well. Could you let me go please? Argh!” She proceeded to have a coughing fit after that.
“What do you mean you don’t know? Your signature is right here!”
“Because, because…” Rosette’s complexion was pale. She pretended to have trouble breathing and spoke in between pants, “I missed the call from the hospital when they told me they found a match. Since the organ cannot be held on to for a long time, they had to pass it on to the next person.”
I stepped forward and slapped her across the face again. “Enough of your excuses! In that case, how are you going to explain the transfer of half a million?
“There was no other organ recipient in the queue. You were the one who forfeited voluntarily! Based on hospital regulations, you had to pay a forfeiture fee of half a million and that was exactly what you did!”
The second Leo looked at her sharply, she drew several steps backward upon feeling the heat of his gaze.
Leo chased after her, his voice seething with fury. “I remember you mentioning you needed half a million last month to fund your parents‘ house renovation. You used that money to pay the hospital, didn’t you?”
Leo’s reality was falling apart now that his lover had been exposed. He roared at her, “I trusted you! I loved you and would have given you whatever you wanted. Why did you lie to me? Why did you do this to my daughter?”
Leo usually watched his tone around Rosette to avoid scaring her but now, he was screaming at her.
Rosette’s face was completely colorless, Her lips trembled the entire time but no words would
come out.
I laughed like a maniac and remarked, “Why? I’ll tell you why!”
I hissed the words between my teeth and shot her a look that was as sharp as a knife. I wish I could cut her up into pieces. “You wanted to do this to prove that Leo cares more about you than for me! You wanted to prove a point that he would give you whatever you wanted.
“You have been asking him to give you a house and a car to test the waters. You got him to secure you a job, and he even had to borrow favors from the shareholders and bring them gifts in exchange for your position.

“You already won and proved your point, but that wasn’t enough, was it? You got greedy and set your sights on my daughter instead. You manipulated Leo so that he would sign off on my daughter’s kidney.
“After the operation, you kept Leo by your side in the VIP ward, so he wouldn’t have time to attend to Dianne. Are you happy now that you finally managed to prove that Leo is devoted to you?
“You have been seducing Leo and framing my daughter! You used his hand to ruin my daughter and killed her! You did all of this so you could get rid of me and my daughter, didn’t you? Did you think I was going to fight for Leo with you?”

It seemed like everything I said had stung Rosette right where it hurt. Her face twisted into a hideous scowl as she growled, “Clarice, shut up! Don’t think that your unproven accusations can drive a wedge between me and Leo!”
She then turned around and took Leo’s arm. “Leo, don’t listen to the tales she spins! How am I supposed to know that Dianne’s kidney would be the right match for mine anyway?”
