“Clarice! You’re insane! Do you have a death wish?”
I was about to throw myself at them when I felt someone grabbing me by my arm.
Someone cried out, “Clarice, you already said your piece and got what you wanted. Please just listen to Leo and leave.”
They acted as if they were on my side, but I knew that was never the case.
Ever since Rosette showed up, they never cared about me. They dedicated all their efforts toward impressing Rosette and Leo so that they could get a raise and promotion.
Rosette grinned coyly at me before collapsing into Leo’s arms.
Leo anxiously carried her in his arms before stepping back into the ward. I could hear his worrisome voice calling her name the entire time.
Three men shoved me into the elevator. They were too strong for me to fight them off. Then, they stood guard at the elevator entrance like giant pillars of statues. I could no longer get into the VIP ward.
I thought about my late daughter lying all alone in the morgue. Then, I dragged my body still pulsing with pain, and went to send her off with tears in my eyes.
