It was Leo who had shouted. He showed up out of nowhere and knocked over the rows of flower baskets,
Rosette trailed behind him. She came in on an electric wheelchair and held a hand over her chest as if she was in pain. Her complexion was very pale like she was on the verge of death. She had several bodyguards surrounding her as well.
1 charged toward Leo to stop him.
“Stop! Don’t ruin these flowers. They were Dianne’s favorite. Do you know how much work we put into growing these flowers? I won’t let you ruin them!”
Leo ignored my pleas and shoved me to the ground, making me nearly drop the urn as I fell.
Leo looked around the scene and shouted angrily, “Dianne, get out here right now!”
I stared at him in disbelief. I foolishly thought he finally felt some resemblance of guilt about his daughter passing away and came to pay his respects. “What is your problem? Weren’t you going to spend time with this bitch and miss our daughter’s birthday anyway? Why can’t you let us proceed with the funeral service in peace?”
Leo’s expression was grim, and all the veins on his forehead bulged. He clenched his jaw tightly and hissed, “Go in peace? Can’t keep up the act anymore, can you? I know she’s trying to make a run for it now that her crimes have been exposed!
“Clarice, be honest. Were you the one who forced her to report Rosette? Did you know you are the reason that she lost her job?!”
Some time ago, Leo used his influence to help Rosette secure a high–paying job that also came with very little workload. In the end, someone had reported her for indecent behavior at work and for meddling in someone’s marriage. With that, her department issued a notice of suspension.
Leo set a printed copy of the email report in front of me. It was sent from Dianne’s email.
However, the email was sent this morning. Dianne had already been cremated the night before.
I was so angry that I could feel my head spin. As if killing my daughter was not enough, they were slandering her for reporting Rosette and ruining her job. They also had the audacity to crash her funeral service!
