He shook my shoulders repeatedly, seemingly desperate for an answer from me.
“If you have nothing to do with that guy, why can’t you come home with me? Can’t we jak
talk this out properly? You weren’t like this before! know I was wrong, What will it take for you to forgive me?”
I struggled to break free from Harry’s grip, then kicked the flowers he had set down to the
side.
“All the paths and choices you made brought us here. Isn’t it better to leave each other with a shred of dignity?”
“At the moment you forced our child to be lost, we became impossible. You took my child away, how can I ever forgive you?”
In the past, during arguments, I would always compromise, regardless of who was right or
wrong.
But now, it all felt unnecessary.
I didn’t want to continue entangling with him, so I chose to leave.
Just before I walked away, Harry grabbed my arm.
“I know I’ve wronged you, but you won’t give me a chance to make amends.”
“If you don’t come home with me this time, I really won’t try to keep you from leaving again. Believe it or not, I will go find Emily right now.”
I turned to look at Harry, disappointment clear in my eyes.
He still hadn’t realized the seriousness of the situation.
Every time we fought, he always dumped all the blame on me.
I forcefully shook off his hand, turned on my heels, and walked away, not looking back at
him.
“Then I wish you and Emily all the best.”
