Chapter 1
To steal money to treat the cat of my husband’s first love, Lauren Davis, my 7–year–old son, Charlie Sinclair, locked me on the balcony on a 109–degree Fahrenheit day.
By the time my husband, Reginald Sinclair, and Charlie came back to let me out, I was already on the verge of death from the heat.
Fortunately, I was rescued in time by a neighbor and rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment.
After waking up from the brink of death, suppressing my anger, I wanted to hear Charlie’s explanation.
But he said in a grievance, “Mom knew that cat was Lauren’s emotional support, yet you didn’t let me and Dad take the money from home to treat it. That’s why you almost died in the sun after just a short while.”
Reginald chimed in, “In the future, you’d better listen to Charlie. Don’t be so petty. Only by doing more good deeds can you get good rewards.”
The money they stole was the tuition fee I had saved for Charlie for a long time.
I wouldn’t take care of Reginald and Charlie anymore and just let them keep subsidizing Lauren.

The day before Reginald and Charlie came to pick me up, I left the hospital and completely cut off contact with them.

When I woke up in the hospital the next day, there was no one in the entire ward except me.
It felt like I was abandoned by the whole world.
Well, it was almost the same.
After I had been rescued from the ICU yesterday, Reginald took Charlie and left.
The money I had painstakingly saved for four years was squandered by Charlie just like that, all for the sake of saving Lauren’s hairless cat, which didn’t seem to have any serious problems at all.
It was something that could have been easily fixed in a small hospital for just a few dozen dollars, but they had to steal my money and take it to the most expensive hospital for treatment.
The nurse who pushed the door open asked me, “Do you need to hire a caregiver? Why haven’t your family members come yet?”
I just nodded to her.
During my two–day hospitalization, Reginald and Charlie only showed up once.

But they kept blaming me for being exposed to the high–temperature sun on the balcony, saying it was all
my
fault.
They even blamed me for not being a good–hearted person and not taking out the money to save Lauren’s emotional support.
Reginald and Charlie were now busy taking care of Lauren’s cat.
Just as I was thinking about this, my phone alerted me that Lauren had updated her Instagram.
After all, I couldn’t resist and clicked in.
In the video, the three of them were in the most expensive pet hospital in the city.
Lauren stood aside, constantly handing tools to the man washing the cat in front of her.
That was my husband, Reginald.
And my son, Charlie, was feeding fruit slices to Lauren beside them.
The three looked like a happy family of three.
There was not a trace of disgust on Reginald’s face as he carefully washed Lauren’s cat.
I had also raised a cat.

Chapter 1
That cat had accompanied me for seven years. When I got married to Reginald, I even brought it to our new house.
Because Reginald couldn’t accept it, I specially bought a cage to keep it.
But what did Reginald do?
When I was three months pregnant and went out to buy groceries, he threw my cat off the 30th floor.
He even said to me righteously, “You’re pregnant now. Keeping a pet isn’t good for our baby. You’re not a child anymore. Don’t be so willful. Besides, I hate cats.”
How could he hate cats that much? He just hated me.
Later I found out that the main reason Reginald threw my cat down was that Lauren was about to return to the country at that time, and Lauren was allergic to cat hair.
For Lauren’s sake, under the pretext of the baby in my belly, he cruelly killed my cat.
In the video, when Lauren lowered her head to eat the fruit slice Charlie handed her, the large metal sequin on her earring accidentally scratched Charlie’s hand.
Blood gushed out instantly.
For a moment, I somewhat expected what kind of reaction Lauren would show when facing the enraged Charlie.

Could she still keep pretending?
A year ago, Charlie had been being naughty and accidentally hit my earrings while playing on my body.
He then forcefully yanked my earring off my ear, and my earlobe became inflamed and festered for a week.
Charlie even demanded that I never wear any jewelry again.
However, I was thinking too much after all,
Instead of getting angry, Charlie comforted Lauren instead, “It’s okay. It’s just a small wound. It’ll heal soon.”
He seemed to be afraid of making Lauren sad.
The clerk who handed over a Band–Aid suddenly interrupted, “Good boy! You are so kind to your mom.”
Charlie immediately changed his expression. “Lauren isn’t my mom.”
