When I opened my eyes again, I was lying in a hospital ward and felt sore all over.
I tried to move my fingers, and immediately a woman, Maria Dixon, leaned over.
She said, “Thank goodness. You’re awake, my savior. My daughter told me that if it weren’t for you, she would’ve been hit by that board.”
I wanted to open my mouth to respond, but my throat was so dry.
“As soon as my daughter came running back, crying and telling us, we were ready to come and help you right away. But the wind was so strong at that time, and she was too scared to tell us exactly where it was. That’s why it took so long. Please don’t blame us,” said Maria.
I shook my head to show her that I didn’t blame them.
I was already satisfied that they were willing to come to my rescue, unlike some people who passed by and ignored me.
Maria seemed to suddenly realize that I hadn’t had any water for a long time. She helped me up and gave me a drink.
Then, I gradually found my voice. “Has anyone come to see me

while I was unconscious?”
Maria blinked her eyes, hesitant.
“It’s okay. Just tell me,” I said.
“Besides a friend of yours who took care of you all night, no one else came. Your friend said your husband thought the wind was too strong and didn’t want to go out. He was staying home with the kid,” said Maria.
He was just staying home with Charlie and Lauren.
Fortunately, the material of the billboard that hit me was light, and I wasn’t severely injured.
Only the wound on my forehead was serious, and there were just some scratches and bruises on my body.
Kayla came to see me many times and tried to communicate with Reginald on my behalf several times.
But Reginald kept refusing to divorce me, saying that he had a gut feeling that he shouldn’t.
On the day I was discharged from the hospital, I said goodbye to Maria’s family and Kayla.
I changed my flight ticket to Parinuss to an earlier date and didn’t want to stay around Reginald for even a second longer.
I also got a new SIM card and changed all my social media

contact numbers.
Just before getting on the plane, I sent Reginald a message: [The wind was so strong, yet you still went out for fondue. Be careful of getting extorted.]
After sending it, I didn’t care what he would think. I just pulled out the SIM card and threw it away.
I was about to start my new, happy life.
Even though I was abroad, I kept in touch with lawyers in my home country.
I asked them to collect evidence of Reginald’s infidelity and file for divorce.
After I left, Lauren had already moved into the house as if she were the mistress. Reginald was essentially cohabiting with someone else during our marriage.
So, getting a divorce wasn’t as difficult as I’d thought.
After completely breaking away from my family, my career took off smoothly.
I studied at an art institute in Parinuss for three years. During that time, I created many works that were praised in the art world.
I even held several solo art exhibitions and had a stable income to easily support myself.

My daily routine was to travel to nearby countries to find inspiration and then create.

Just then, Kayla suddenly called me, asking if I could go back to our country and take care of her child for three months.
She and her husband, Quentin Nelson, worked in the same
company.
The company required both of them to go on a three–month business trip, but their child was still in school and couldn’t go
with them.
Kayla had tried several nannies, but none of them got along well with their daughter. So, she had to ask me.
I thought about it. I didn’t have any urgent matters recently, so I readily agreed.
Kayla’s daughter, Janet Nelson, was a lovely and very bright girl.
She was six years old, but she was quite talented.
Janet was pretty good at kickboxing, swimming, and
skateboarding, and she also had a pet dog, whose name was
Charo.
The first time I heard this name, I couldn’t help but recall that when Charlie was born, I used to call him Char.
I asked Janet, “Why did you name the dog Charo?”

Janet answered, “Nothing special. I had a little goldfish before, but it died. Its name was Charo, and it was the dog’s good friend. So, I discussed it with the dog and renamed him Charo. This way, the little goldfish can live on forever.”
