Chapter 8
Reginald took a few steps back and almost stumbled into the sea. “Officer, I didn’t do it.”
The police said, “Come back with us for investigation. Don’t worry. If you’re innocent, you’ll be out soon.”
Beads of fine sweat appeared on Reginald’s forehead. But it was
winter.
Anyone with eyes could see his nervousness and unease at this
moment.
Lauren noticed it, too.
She seemed to be really high and started blabbing out Reginald’s crimes without restraint.
Lauren shouted, “Officer, do you want to know what he used the embezzled money for? He used it to find girls with a similar fate to Michelle. There were quite a few he forced. There’s even one buried in our back garden.”
Reginald tried to rush over to cover Lauren’s mouth but was stopped by the police.
“How do you know that? Stop talking!” shouted Reginald.
Lauren laughed coldly, her eyes full of venom, “If you don’t want

others to know, don’t do it. When you’re executed, I’ll still be alive. Do you forget? I have a child in my belly.”
After that, the two of them were escorted into separate police cars, and I was about to go check on Janet’s situation.
But they hadn’t walked far when Reginald broke free from the police’s restraint.
He somehow took out a knife and stabbed Lauren in the belly.
Janet was indeed fine. She even swam back to the shore on her own.
But Charlie, who couldn’t swim at all, wasn’t that lucky.
The police said that it was Janet who pushed Charlie a few times so that he didn’t inhale more seawater.
I squatted in front of Janet, constantly asking if she was okay.
Janet said, “Don’t worry. I’m smart. I didn’t eat anything they gave me.”

She then turned to look at Charlie, saying, “I know why Michelle doesn’t want you. You can’t do anything right and only break her heart. If I died, she’d be very sad. You don’t care about her feelings at all.”
Charlie, who had just escaped death, stared blankly at me.
I picked Janet up and was about to leave.

THE
“Mom, I was wrong,” shouted Charlie.
I only paused for a moment, then continued walking forward with big steps.
Back when I divorced Reginald, Charlie had actively found my lawyer and signed a document to sever the mother–son relationship.
I didn’t know how he knew about all this. Maybe Lauren told him.
But it didn’t matter. None of this had anything to do with me
anymore.
The child in Lauren’s belly couldn’t be saved, and what she said
wasn’t all nonsense.
On the contrary, a large part of it was confirmed.
With conclusive evidence, Reginald couldn’t deny it, and both of them were sentenced to death.
Charo was also fine. The knife hadn’t hit its vital part.
Janet started practicing kickboxing even harder, saying that she would protect me next time.
As for Charlie, although he had only been using that illegal drug for a few days, he seemed to be addicted.

He was sent to a rehabilitation center and would be sent to a juvenile detention center for education after getting rid of the addiction.
Before Reginald’s execution, I went to see him.
He said to me obsequiously, “The fortune–teller told me that I’ll meet you again in the next life. I’ll treat you well in the next life. I won’t let you go.”
“Do you love me, or do you love the prosperity and wealth the fortune–teller said I’d bring you?” I asked.
Reginald couldn’t say he loved me even after forcing himself for a long time.
I stood up, saying, “Just because of that, I’ll start working out now. I’ll try to live a long life when I’m old. I never want to meet you again in the next life.”
I heard that Lauren kept cursing me until she died.
Even at the end of her life, she still thought that I was the one who caused her tragedy.
I had to say that Lauren and Reginald were a perfect match, both of whom believe in fate.
They were the ones who committed all the crimes, yet they still pushed the blame on me.
I didn’t want to be with Reginald in the next life, and I still had a

lot of good times to live in this life.
But if we had to talk about fate, mine was surely to live an increasingly better life after leaving Reginald.
It was because right after I came out of the visit, I received the news that someone wanted to invest and run an art gallery with me.
Well, fortune–making and the death of my ex–husband were really good.
