Jessica asked, “So, what does he do?”
Worried that Jessica might feel stressed once she knew who Alistair really was, Audrey paused for a moment and said, “He’s
an executive at a tech company. It’s a steady job. He bought this condo himself.”
Jessica finally felt at ease knowing that her son–in–law wasn’t an old man but a talented young man.
She thought it seemed he didn’t want Audrey’s money since he already bought a house.
Jessica was just starting to feel relieved when she noticed she was someone’s very intense gaze.
She turned her head around and saw Sunny, staring at her like a cautious little puppy.
Jessica’s heart jolted as she pulled Audrey closer to her. She whispered, “Who is this kid?”
Audrey’s face softened a bit and she gave Sunny a gentle smile.
She explained. “Sunny is Alistair’s son so he is also my son.”
Jessica’s face immediately darkened.
She thought, ‘So, this man is young and has a successful career but he was once married and has a child.
Now, I don’t think he is the right one for my dear daughter!”
Meanwhile, while cooking in the kitchen. Alistair texted Logan.
Alistair: [My mother–in–law’s here. What should I do to please her?]
Logan was drinking with someone. He almost spit out his drink after reading this message. He checked over and over again, if it was really sent from Alistair.
Logan: [Who are you? How dare you hack my friend’s account?]
Alistair was speechless.

Once they were all seated, Alistair humbly said, I’m not sure what you like. If there’s anything not to your liking, just let me know. I’ll try to do better next time!”
Jessica looked at the mountain of food piled on her plate and felt speechless.
She guessed her fragile stomach might explode if she ate all the food.
