But Colin Shaw had been right–running away would never solve the root of the problem. Only by facing it head–on could she finally break free.
That was why Heather had agreed to come back, to meet with Mitchell one last time and end things for good.
“Mitchell, you should understand the law better than I do. I’m sure you don’t want to face the charge of unlawful imprisonment. I’m only here to put an end to this. Your obsession is affecting my life, and it has to stop.”
With those final words, Heather turned to leave.
But as she took two steps, Mitchell suddenly grabbed her wrlst
He didn’t say a word, but the plea in his eyes was clear–he didn’t want her to leave him, not like this.
Heather’s gaze was full of disdain. Before she could break free from Mitchell’s hold, Colin stepped into the scene..
“Darling, what took so long?”
Colin naturally wrapped his arm around Heather’s waist and placed a soft kiss on her forehead. Mitchell stood there, shocked by everything he was witnessing, so much so that he didn’t even notice when Heather slipped her hand out of his grip.
His eyes were full of disbelief and pain as he asked, “Who are you?”
Colin smiled politely, taking a step back with Heather still in his arms.
“Hello, I’m Colin, Heather’s boyfriend. If you ever have the chance, I’d be happy to welcome you to Buleesia for a visit.”
Mitchell gritted his teeth but didn’t say another word, nor did he try to stop Heather from leaving.
Once Heather and Colin walked away side by side, Mitchell, overwhelmed with shock and heartbreak, suddenly coughed up blood and collapsed to the ground.
