I moved into a hospital and began to receive treatment without much enthusiasm.
“Abigale! Why did you pull the needle out again!” The trainee nurse scolding me
efficient with head a young age and was very quick and
work, and scolding people… without mercy.
I shrunk my shoulders and obediently accepted her scolding, “Do you not want to receive treatment? Just leave if you want to die!”
I turned my eyes and said half–seriously, half–jokingly, “The drip is so cold, can you maybe give me a hot water bag to hold?”
The young girl skeptically judged my words and still angrily brought me a delicate hand warmer.
“Don’t pull the needle out again!” She bent down and warned me, “Does it hurt?”
I looked into her eyes, it had been a long time since someone asked me if it hurt, the people who cared about me were no longer in this world.
“It doesn’t hurt, thank you Maddie.”
I said it didn’t hurt, but after half a month, my hands were already numb from being pricked by needles, so at night I

couldn’t sleep due to the pain and just wandered around with the IV drip stand.
Inside the nurse’s station, there was only Maddie. She was weeping silently,
I tapped her desk lightly and asked, “What’s wrong?”
“Shh!” She looked around to make sure no one was around before asking me, “Why aren’t you sleeping?”
I pointed to the IV rack and said, “I can’t sleep, so I’m just walking around.”
She looked at my face and put her hand on my forehead, worriedly asking, “Does it hurt?”
I was about to say no, but against my own will, I nodded my head.
She gestured for me to come over and I pushed open the door of the nurse’s station and sat down next to her. I ate a big, sweet piece of bread and watched five episodes of a soap opera with her, using up an entire packet of tissues until it was light outside. Then she urged me to go back to my room.
I warned her, “Wait for me and we’ll watch together. I remember the plot, so you’re not allowed to watch it without
me!”
Maddie smiled and agreed, “Hurry, and go back to sleep!”

After watching the late night TV show together with Maddie three times, one late night, I received a call from Tristan.
“Where are you?”
I raised my eyebrows, “What’s it to you?”

Things that weren’t allowed to be asked when we were married, why did he come asking after divorcing?
He obviously choked by my words, and he bluntly hung up my phone, my good mood instantly disappeared and I blocked his number.
Maddie was waiting for me to watch TV together, she asked me in a small voice: “Is that your… family member?”
I waved my hand, “I don’t have any family, everyone in family is dead.”

Maddie pointed at the phone and said: “Then what about him?”
I glanced at the screen and thought for a while, “Him? He’s just an annoying person.”
A very annoying person!
But one phone call didn’t stir any waves in my life, I still sleep during the day, receive treatment, and wander around at night, catching up with Maddie’s nurse shift and watch TV dramas with her.

However, the annoying person would not just appear once, a week later I received an unfamiliar text message.
“Did you block me?”

Tristan had made some money these years, I didn’t know who had taught him this unyielding attitude of not giving up until the goal was reached. I had finally managed to fall asleep when he spam called me.
Oh, right, he’s always been a rich trust fund baby who got what he wanted.
“Hello!” My tone was bad and my eyes were still closed.
“Why aren’t you at home?” Tristan’s voice came through the microphone.
“Ugh,” I was a bit impatient, but still kept my temper and asked, “What do you need?”
“Which bank account do you want the money sent to?”
“Any one will do, why are you calling to ask such a menial thing?”
“Don’t hang up!” He added urgently.
“Spit it out quickly then.”

“Why aren’t you at home?” He started to ramble again, but I quickly asked, “Are you at my house?”

“I’m telling you to get out quickly. I’ve already listed the house with a real estate agent, and someone might come to look at it anytime. Hurry up and get out of my way.”
“Are you selling it?” His voice rose a few notches. “You’re going to sell the house?!”
I suppressed my frustration and said, “If I don’t sell the house do I leave it to rot? Shut up and get out of my house.”
“Where are you?” He asked seriously.
“None of your business!” I lost my patience and hung up, blocked and deleted him in one go. After that, I couldn’t sleep no matter what.
I opened my eyes when it was daybreak.
I cursed at him a million times in my heart.
