I heard someone whistling and Jenny
cheering.
A burning gaze pierced through the crowd,
landing on me.
I looked back and saw Kyle smiling.
I won, no doubt about it.
After the show, I dropped Kyle off at his
place.

Jake’s voice drifted over.
“Brittany, why don’t you believe me?”
“How am I supposed to believe you? You keep saying you love me, but you look at
other women.”
“What about you? You’re playing all these other guys. What do you think you are?”
Brittany’s voice had a hint of anger.
“What choice do I have? My brother needs
$30,000 for surgery. Can you give me
$30,000? If you can, I’ll cut off contact with
the other guys and never see them again. Can
you do that?”

I thought Jake would agree, but I heard him
say, “Brittany, don’t push me.”
“Nobody’s pushing you. I never asked you for
anything.”
“You didn’t? What were you saying when you were crying and begging me to get Annie to back out of the competition? Did you forget?”
“Jake, don’t say you don’t feel anything for Annie. You regret seeing how pretty she looks
today, right?”
The pair then walked off.
I sat there for a long time.
So that’s what the $30,000 was for.

interest rate.
They came to beat him up because they were
not getting paid.
I didn’t know what he needed the money for.
I paid the debt and told him I borrowed it
from a friend.

Time went by slowly.

She said, “The money that Jake used, what

She looked a little upset.
Brittany was starting to look more upset
these days.
Brittany’s family must have had a medical bill.
I knew she was working.
I then told her, “What it was for, I don’t know,
but maybe you should get your own stuff
figured out.”
Brittany was speechless.
She wasn’t dumb.
Jake, who had to work to pay his own tuition,
suddenly gave her $30,000.
She was paying for it.
I stopped when Jake stopped me at the
coffee shop, and the rain was coming down.
I knew I was calm.
I glared at Jake.
“We need to talk.”

“No, Kyle and I are busy.”
He then said, “I made the time for you.”
Kyle snickered.
Jake was then turning quiet.
He got angry.
“So, I was the heiress the entire time.”
I took a drink.
“What do you want?”
Jake said, “Please give me another chance.”

I was shocked.
Jake said, “Brittany is not the same.”
Jenny said that Jake was trying to follow me.
I said, “You can’t.‘
He then told me that he did not like Brittany,
and I got upset.
“What should I do?”
He was on fire.
Jake said that there are no options for life
other than me.
“You’re not going to leave and work again.”
“It is not my problem.”

of you that I am going to go bankrupt.”
I got up.
“You knew what was going on, so you
stopped what you were doing.”
“He then told me that he was going to get on
his knees.
The two got together, and he then changed.
“Tell me that I am crazy.”
Kyle got to the front of the line and glared.
He would not let me think about other guys
other than him.

Kyle froze.
