Elara chuckled and said, “I’ve thrown away plenty of trash. Take your time picking it up.”
Even if Niamh stripped naked and lay in Harvey’s bed, it wouldn’t spark a shred of anger in Elara. She would only watch with amusement as Niamh brought about her own downfall.
Upon learning that the bracelet was a gift from Harvey, Abe seemed relieved. It confirmed to him that Niamh still held a firm grip on Harvey’s heart.
Abel shifted his anger toward Elara at the dining table.
“You must have done something to upset Mr. Fisher that led to the divorce! I’m telling you right now that you ought to go and patch things up with him!
“The Jones family are against divorces! Aren’t you embarrassed? You’re a 30–year–old single mom! Who would want you after this?”
Elara ate calmly, occasionally checking on Bambi to ensure she was eating well. She asked, “Dad, aren’t you going to ask me why I divorced Harvey?”
“Why bother? You couldn’t even keep a man! Do you know how hard I worked to arrange the marriage with the Fisher family? I practically groveled for it! And now, you’re just ruining it because you’re too comfortable and acting spoiled!”
“Dad,” Elara’s expression turned colder.
Before she could respond, Daphne chimed in. “Lara, just apologize to your husband and ask for his forgiveness. You’ll never find anyone better than him!”
Abel sneered disdainfully. “She’s just a clueless country girl!”
He pointed at Elara and said to Daphne, “She wasn’t raised by us, so she didn’t even tell us about the divorce beforehand.”
Elara replied evenly, “If I told you in advance, I wouldn’t have been able to go through with it.”
Abel scoffed and glanced at Niamh before asking Elara, “I heard you signed a divorce settlement and took a portion of Mr. Fisher’s assets.”
His tone turned commanding “That kind of money shouldn’t just sit in a savings account. Transfer it to the Jones family’s company account. I’ll make sure you get dividends every year.”
“I’ve already invested it in the stock market.
“What did you say?” Abel’s voice dropped to a chilling tone
”
Understanding her father’s hearing wasn’t the best, Elara repeated, “All 60 million from Harvey has been invested in stocks.”
“Elara Jones! Are you insane? That’s no different from burning the money!” Abel slammed his hand on the table
His daughter, who was now divorced, had invested all the money she got from the Fisher family into the stock market without him receiving a cent. Abel’s fury erupted life a volcano,
“Dad, you already took a cut when you ‘sold‘ your daughter seven years ago. Isn’t that enough?”
Before Elara could finish speaking, Abel’s eyes widened in hock. He couldn’t tolerate such defiance. He grabbed

the plate in front of him and hurled it at Elara.
She had no time to dodge and instinctively closed her eyes.
But the expected pain didn’t come. When she opened her eyes, she saw Bambi standing on her chair with her small hands firmly catching the plate.
The food was scattered across the table as Bambi exclaimed, “Grandpa! You shouldn’t waste food!”
Being chastised by a five–year–old infuriated Abel further. “You two worthless fools don’t deserve to eat the Jones family’s food!”
He grabbed the plate of frittatas in front of him and aimed it at Bambi. Elara shot up from her seat and lunged toward Bambi.
But Bambi’s expression hardened. With a sharp motion, she gripped the edge of the dining table with both hands. and flipped the six–foot–wide stone tabletop over!
The plate of frittatas collided with the stone slab, causing the sauce to splatter all over Abel instead.
