“Ahhh!” Daphne let out a piercing scream, startled by the sadden chaos.
As the round table flipped, Abel scooped Daphne into his arms and stumbled several steps back in panic.
Elara seized the moment, rushing forward to pick up Bambi and running toward the nearest kitchen.
“Abel, I’m so scared!” Daphne whimpered while clinging tightly to Abel’s neck.
Abel gently patted her shoulder. “Don’t be afraid, Daffy. I’ll give them both a good slap, and they’ll behave!”
Daphne shuddered at his words.
Niamh, on the other hand, wore a gleeful smile. Elara hadn’t faced Abel’s wrath since returning to the Jones family. Watching Abel discipline his daughter and granddaughter? Now that would be entertaining!
“Elara! Come out here!” Abel shouted, striding toward the tchen as he loosened the buckle on his belt. He pulled it free, wielding it like a seasoned warden.
Then Elara appeared at the kitchen doorway with a sharp knife in her hand. She had Bambi stay behind her in the kitchen while she stood firmly in the doorway, radiating a defiant aura.
Her eyes were bloodshot, and when she saw the belt in Abel’s hand, it didn’t frighten her. Instead, it ignited her maternal instincts. Her resolve was now as fierce as a roaring flame.
She had once longed to feel familial love from the parents she had been separated from for 18 years.

Abel was tall, muscular, and a regular at the gym, while Elara was a weary housewife worn thin by years of toil. Did he need to fear her knife?
But the aura around her–a mother lion protecting her cub–held him frozen in place. He felt as though predator in the jungle had just met its match, and it was really to fight to the death.
Abel’s body betrayed him, and his hair stood on end.
“Are you really going to come at me with alnife?” he roared, but he didn’t step forward.
Elara noticed his hesitation. Abel, for all his bluster, wasn’t about to take a chance.
She reached a hand behind her, and Bambi rushed forward to grab her arm. Keeping her eyes locked on Abel, Elara took Bambi’s hand and began retreating toward the front door.
Realizing her intent, Abel barked, “If you dare leave the Jones residence today, don’t even think about coming back!”
Elara quickened her pace as her grip on Bambi tightened.
Abel let out a snort, his nostrils flaring as he watched them go. His voice boomed like a lion’s roar. “From this day forward, I disown Elara Jones as my daughter! If she dares to return, don’t let her in!”
“Abel!” Daphine cried, throwing herself into his arms while trembling with fear. “Are you really giving up on Lara?
