The lady had to beg a boy from next door for textbooks, and she’d self–studied.
Fortunately, the government introduced policies that required children in the village to attend schools. Most of them couldn’t endure it and returned home to work after months.
But she persisted and scored first place in exams. This earned her a government–sponsored spot in high school. Still, the national college entrance exam was highly competitive, and she’d just managed to enter an ordinary university due to her weak foundation.
It was considered a great honor in her village where no one had ever attended college, but her parents didn’t see it that way. They tore up her admission letter and forced her into marriage
instead.
She smashed the window under the cover of the darkness and ran away. After much hardship she arrived in Elipus, reported her lost admission letter to the police, and finally got to enroll through a long process.
Now, she’d severed ties with her family and could only take part–time jobs to support herself.
Mick’s heart was in a mess after hearing her story. Had Nydia been the same? Had she married him just for money? And was she elated to divorce him after discovering she could get two million dollars out of it?

Buck noticed Mick’s distraught look and hurriedly stuffed some money into the lady’s hands, Then, he sent her away.
She bowed deeply before leaving. “Thank you, kind gentlemen. I’ll repay your kindness someday.”
Mick sneered. Repay?
The Wilcher family had provided Nydia with a stable home, status, and wealth. And she’d repaid them by abandoning her husband and son
“Get lost!” His face was dark, and a murderous intent emanated from him.
The terrified lady clutched the money and fled.
Buck couldn’t understand why Mick got so mad either, and he didn’t dare suggest bringing in
more women.
After briefly calming down, Mick texted Royce and instructed the latter to investigate Nydia’s home village.
After six years of marriage, he was finally looking into Nydia’s past.
Nydia prepared everything she needed and headed to the site of the practical contest with Nelson. The event brought together many outstanding doctors from across the country.
Before the contest began, they gathered to chat and exchange insights.
“Did you hear? They added a live streaming segment this year, and there will be a star involved.”
“That’s odd. How many stars out there know anything about medicine? Won’t they mess things up if they join?”
“They’re probably trying to attract more sponsorship. It’s been tough for us in recent years.” “I heard a rumor that the star is Mona Poole, who’s been quite popular recently.”
“Oh, I know her. She used to do medical education live streams and suddenly went viral, so she quickly transitioned into the entertainment industry.”
“Well, at least the organizers have standards. They picked a star who actually knows medicine.
Nydia was uninterested in all that. Instead, she inquired about the panel of judges and the prize details.
Nelson chuckled. “Are you worried about underperforming?”
Nydia admitted she was a little nervous and replied, “I’ve neglected theoretical knowledge over the years.”
After getting married, she had to balance her job and care for the father–and–son pair. There had been no time to focus on studying.
The practical contents would begin with a theoretical quiz segment, and teams with the highest scores would advance to practical rounds. She was worried about dragging Nelson
down.
Nelson gently patted her shoulder and reassured her in a warm voice, “Don’t put too much pressure on yourself. We have talents here with us today, so just do your best. “You’re too relaxed.” Though Nydia said so, she did feel less anxious.
