Chapter 4
“Lucian, I’m not lying. I have the test results in my hand.”
Before I could explain further, the line went dead.
With my mind lingering over Lucian’s words, I walked out to find the car guy approaching
- me.
“Hey, is everything okay? He asked with concern.
I couldn’t answer him as my eyes fell on Lucian, exiting from the nearby room with Astra.
“Lucian! Lucian!” I called him out desperately.
He paused, glancing over his shoulder with an arched brow.
“How the hell are you here? You were locked,” he asked in a curt tone.
“Lucian, I wasn’t well.” I replied with excitement.
“That’s why I’m here and got to know that I’m pregnant. Look at the results, Lucian.”
I extended the test results to him, but he hurled it to the ground right away.
“I don’t want to see any results, Selene. I know you are lying.” He scoffed.
“Lucian, please,” I pleaded, my voice cracking.
I picked up the paper and held it out to him again.
“Just look at it once,
and you
will know.
“Stop your fucking games, Selene,” he yelled.
“You think I’ve forgotten the last time you pulled something like this? I dropped everything and rushed home for you, only to find out it was a prank. I lost millions that day.”
“That was years ago. I was naive at that time. This is for real.”
“Lucian, I’m not feeling well.” Astra intervened in a distressed tone.
She distorted her face and clutched her stomach.
“Oh, what’s wrong?”
Lucian looked at her with concern.”
“After she tried to kill me and my baby, I’m feeling so weak,” Astra said.
“Yeah, Let’s go. It’s better you stay away even from her shadow.”

“Lucian! I didn’t try to harm them. Believe me. I said.
But he didn’t react and walked away.
Tears cascaded down my face, and my body stumbled back, but the stranger steadied me.
“Who is that bastard,” he asked, infuriated.
“Who the hell does he think he is? How could he treat you like that? I’m not gonna spare him. He had to apologize to you,”
He followed Lucian, but I stopped him.
“No, please, don’t do anything. He’s my husband.”
“Huh?! Your husband?! Does he treat you like this, and you let him?”
I lowered my eyes in shame, to which he lightly touched my arm.
“I’m sorry I’m no one to meddle in your matters, but I think you shouldn’t allow anyone to disrespect you.
I stared at him with teary eyes.
“Leave it. Anyways, thank you…thank you for everything, uhmmm…”
“Theo, I’m Theo.‘
“}
“Oh, and I’m Selene.”
“Yeah, I heard your husband saying.” Theo said, smiling.
“Let me take you home, please.”
“No, I’ll manage,” I replied quickly, not wanting to burden him further.
“You’re not well. Let me help you, please.”
After a moment’s hesitation, I nodded, and Theo led me to his car.
But as the car stopped by the house, a fear of abandonment and loneliness crept within me.
“Hey, are you okay?” Theo asked, opening the door for me.
“Huh…yeah, yeah.” I played cool, stepping out.
I then extended my hand to Theo with a faint smile.
“Thank you, Theo. What you’ve done for me today, no one else would have,”
You’re welcome.”
He met my hand with a wide smile.

“If you ever need me, I’m just a call away. But for that.”
He paused with a chuckle.
“We’ll need to exchange numbers.”
“No need for that.” A harsh voice cut in,
I turned around to find Lucian, his eyes brimming with contempt.
“There is no need for anyone to take care of my wife.”
“Lucian, please-”
He didn’t let me finish.
“First, you lie about being pregnant, and now, you’re flirting with another man?”
“Do you
Before I realized Theo’s anger erupted, and he grabbed Lucian by the collar.
“Enough, you asshole. She’s not lying, and you need to watch your tone.”
have any shame, Selene? You’re nothing but a compulsive liar.”
“And who the hell are you to tell me how to speak to my wife?”
Lucian pushed Theo, his eyes flashing with fury.
In return, Theo landed a tight punch on Lucian’s face.
“I’m someone who can’t tolerate any man disrespecting a woman–especially one carrying his child.”
Lucian retaliated, throwing a punch on Theo’s jaw.
“Stop it! For God’s sake, stop!” I cried, stepping between them.
But Lucian, unable to control his anger, pushed me hard, and I fell to the ground.
“Ahhh,” I wailed.
A sudden pain shot into my stomach, and some kind of liquid started flowing between my legs.
“Selene!”
Theo called me frantically and rushed to me before cradling my head in his arms.
“She is bleeding.”
“Baby, my baby, Theo.”
I managed to whisper, clutching my stomach as pain surged through me.
