Chapter 3
They did so much, but it was only to educate me. Only by treating Ashley well, can my life be good.
Ashley’s parents were dead, while my parents were clearly alive, but what difference did it make? I felt like an orphan.
On Christmas day, I was pouring water in the kitchen when Ashley appeared in front of me wearing new clothes. “Katelyn, do you like my outfit?”
I ignored her and walked out of the kitchen.
She suddenly grabbed my hand from behind and said, “You haven’t answered me yet.” I frowned in disgust and was about to pull my hand back.
Her other hand grabbed again and she splashed hot water on herself with my hand, and then let out a scream. “Do you think Mom would help her biological daughter or me?” Ashley cruelly laughed. Just as she finished speaking, this scene was witnessed by Mom herself, as she had hoped, misunderstanding that I did it.
“Katelyn, do you have any opinions you can tell me, come on, why do you have to make things difficult for Ashley?” Mom looked at me with disappointment.
Ashley, with red eyes, innocently and obediently said, “Mom, don’t blame Katelyn, it was my fault.”
Kevin pulled my arm and said, “Are you jealous of Ashley? You deliberately made her unable to wear new clothes today, knowing that we

vere going to visit relatives.”
Dad’s gaze was filled with anger, “Katelyn, this year you will be punished by staying at home alone. Think carefully about where you went wrong. Ashley, change your clothes. Dad will take you both out for dinner.
Ashley looked scared, and my mother immediately comforted her in a gentle voice. Those gentle hands had once wiped away the tears from my ace, but I could no longer remember that warmth.

But there was none, and the four of them happily went out.
When she left, Ashley deliberately turned back to look at me, her gaze seemed to say, “Katelyn, I won again.”
In less than half a month, my mom’s Instagram was filled with photos of Ashley and them eating and playing, even the cake Kevin brought home. was only for Ashley.
It seems like I was forgotten by them. In my previous life, before I died, I also posted on Instagram.
I said, since you don’t love me, why did you give birth to me?
And the response I received was that they said I was immature, which became the final straw that overwhelmed me, leading jump off the rooftop resolutely.

In this lifetime, because I didn’t waste my energy fighting with Ashley, my grades improved rapidly, while she remained average or below average, just like in the previous lifetime.

In the second semester of Grade 12, on the first day of school, the school required a parent meeting.
When I told my mom about this news, she, however, said, “Katelyn, you also know that Ashley’s biological parents passed away, and her grades have been poor ever since. That’s why your dad and I have already agreed to attend her parent–teacher conference. You will understand, won’t you?”
In their previous life, they also did not attend my parent–teacher meeting.
Because my grades were not good, my dad said it would be embarrassing to go.
Why is it that whenever Ashley’s grades are not good, they have to go and change?
I thought I wouldn’t be sad, but I said, “Mom, can you come? Ashley has Dad with her.”
But Mom frowned, “Katelyn, I thought you had become more responsible, but I didn’t expect you to be so disobedient. On such an important day, of course, we have to be by Ashley’s side.”
Yeah, such an important day.
They, of course, accompanied their adopted daughter, but it was fine for me to attend the parent–teacher meeting alone.
I was really sick, and yet I still had fantasies, thinking that maybe my mother would love me more because of my good grades.
It used to be the same.
