Chapter 7
Chapter 7
My father glared at me fiercely and without hesitation, he slapped me. But I managed to dodge it.
He pointed at me and scolded, “I know you have never liked Ashley since childhood, but how could you… how could you…”
My mother also blamed me for the mistake. “Katelyn, why didn’t you answer Ashley’s call? Why didn’t you answer Ashley’s call? If you had answered her, nothing would have happened.”
Kevin looked at Katelyn with red eyes and said, “Katelyn, are you so proud of yourself for getting into Nydoalind University that you can still go to school without a care while Ashley is like this? You’d better accompany her to repeat Grade 12!”
Mom and Dad looked at Kevin with relieved eyes.
I, who had been admitted to Nydoalind University, was still considered inferior to Ashley, who had failed the exam, in their eyes. I didn’t want to see the disgusting faces of these people anymore, so I took out the agreement that had been prepared long ago.
“I took it when I was going to have a meal, but I think you won’t want to see me in the future, so I signed the agreement. We won’t have any relationship anymore.”
In my previous life, Ashley had said, “Katelyn, once you die, our parents‘ you die, our parents‘ property will all be mine, and Kevin won’t compete with me either.”
When I took out the agreement, her eyes lit up instantly.
Chapter 7
My parents didn’t expect me to be so determined. They started to hesitate a bit, but it wasn’t that they didn’t want to let me go, but that they didn’t want to let go of a daughter who got admitted to Nydoalind University.
Kevin sneered, “Did you think that our parents wouldn’t blame you for this? Katelyn, why did you become so terrifying?”
Mom’s eyes were red and teary. “We raised you all these years, and now you want to cut ties with us with just a piece of paper? Don’t you consider us as your family?”
Ashley suddenly went crazy and pushed my mother away, saying, “You are all bad people, I don’t want you anymore. I want to go find my mom. and dad. Dad and mom, I was bullied so badly.”
My mother listened and kept crying while holding her.
Kevin grabbed my hand, his tone filled with anger, “Is this the result you. wanted to see? Look, Ashley, look what you’ve done to her!”
My father calmly scrutinized us, then snatched the agreement and signed. his name on it. “Get lost, from now on we, the Lambert family, only have. one daughter, Ashley!”
My mother was incredulous as Ashley in her arms cried and made a fuss. She immediately held her tightly to comfort her. I picked up the paper from the ground and left without looking back.
Originally, I thought my parents wouldn’t agree, but thanks to Ashley’s push, they did.
I spent four years in college while working part–time.
After graduating from Nydoalind University, Liam started a game. development company and asked me to be their story planner. I declined.
Chapter 7
Because I received an offer from Capital Central Station as a journalist, I started traveling to various cities.
Afterward, I met a high school classmate in Mideway City. She told met that my parents had been looking for me and that my brother had already passed away.
Their adopted daughter Ashley, when she was repeating Grade 12, secretly dated a troublemaker boyfriend without their knowledge. When they broke up, the boyfriend came to their house and caused trouble.
My brother was covered in injuries as he tried to save her, but she tightly shut the door and ignored my brother’s plea for help, resulting in his
excessive blood loss and death.
My parents also found out, after my brother’s death, that Ashley had an accident back then because she was dating this thug boyfriend, and as a result, the thug boyfriend offended someone and handed her over to his
brothers.
She was unwilling, so she called me to go as a scapegoat, but I didn’t go. My mother couldn’t accept Kevin’s death and went crazy.
Ashley was also kicked out of her home and taken by her thug boyfriend to do shady work.
My dad was juggling work and taking care of my mom, so he was overwhelmed and forgot about me. I had no intention of going to see them.
Both the past me and the present Kevin were the victims of the tragedy my parents caused. I used to feel inferior because I couldn’t get love from my parents.
And thus, I went down the wrong path.
