anymore. Everett was not her son, but Rowan was. She had never taken care of Everett before, so she did not have a real familial bond with him.
She picked up a rock on the ground and hit Everett on the back of his head while he was not paying attention.
Everett was unprepared. The back of his head started bleeding from Angeline’s blow.
Rowan was shocked. After all, Everett was his only son. He pushed Angeline away and shouted, “Have you gone mad?! If he doesn’t recover from this, I’m going to kill you!”
Angeline was dumbfounded when her son scolded her. She was trying to help him, yet he responded by scolding her. She sat down on the ground and started crying.
“You’re terrible! I raised you all by myself. Your dad wasn’t around, so I had to play the role of both your parents, yet you still treat me like this.
“I–I–I…” Angeline glared and hissed. “I’ll just go and die. If I die, I won’t be a burden to you anymore. I’m going to die, I tell you!”
!
I watched this farce from Lily’s car. Angeline got up several times and pretended to hit her head on a tree. I watched as no one paid attention to her at all. Even her so–called friends, who were happily chatting to her barely an hour ago, were now indifferent to her.
She had no choice but to grin and bear it as she groveled against Rowan’s cold shoulder.
“Rowan, you’re the only person I can count on. You can’t do this to me! Boohoo!”
