“Rowan.” I handed him the divorce agreement I had prepared and said, “Sign this. Then, you can honor your mother however you wish.”
Rowan looked at the agreement in his hand and said sharply, “Daphne, I’ve been way too lenient with you, haven’t I?”
Furious, he yelled, “Don’t think you can trample all over me just because things didn’t go your way back then! If you really divorce me, you’ll be damaged goods that no one wants! How dare you think you’re so great!”
I turned toward Angeline, expecting the obviously gleeful expression on her face.
Everett immediately sided with Rowan and blamed me too. He said, “If you really want to divorce Dad over this, the only thing I’ll regret is that I came out of your belly!”
Everett’s eyes were filled with disgust for me as he said, “How could I have such an evil mother? What a shame!”
In the past, I would have wanted to die if Everett ever said such words to hurt me. However, all I could see as I looked at him now was his resemblance to Angeline. I replied to him calmly, “If I could go back, I would’ve never given birth to you. It would’ve been better to flush you down the toilet!”
Everett was so shaken that he jumped up from the sofa.

“I’ll give you another chance. If you can admit to your mistakes, I’ll let bygones be bygones. If you stay stubborn to the end, don’t blame me for disregarding everything we’ve built together.
