I smiled and sat on the windowsill, watching the stream flowing beneath the quaint little bridge outside. My thoughts drifted back to the day Angeline broke into my room with a thug, and put her claws around Everett’s neck, threatening me fiercely,
“Daphne, if you don’t obey him, I will kill your son.”
Angeline threatened Everett’s life. I watched Everett wriggle helplessly in Angeline’s arms, frightened to the verge of tears. I noticed the disgusting thug who was standing very close to me, smiling lewdly. In the end, I gave in for the sake of my son. I tossed away the scissors in my hands and allowed him to manhandle me.
Fortunately, Rowan came home before the situation escalated to the point of no return. He grabbed a cleaver from the kitchen and struck it on the door, forcing the thug to leave. However, he learned about the entire incident through Angeline’s crocodile tears.
Angeline had lost too much money gambling. She could not pay it back, so she came up with this dirty idea. She cried and knelt on the ground to beg me for forgiveness. She made various promises and vowed to never make the same mistake again.
She was still Rowan’s mother, after all, so he begged me not to call the police. I endured it for the sake of my dear son and my little family. Rowan kicked Angeline out to show his sincerity
to me.
When I thought about the past, it all felt ridiculous.
I should have sent Angeline to jail without hesitation and let the law punish her. It was my soft heart that led things to end up like this.
Thankfully, it was not too late.
As I swung my feet from the windowsill, I contacted an agent to sell my apartment below market price. I also contacted a lawyer and filed for divorce. While Lily and I were having a great time together, Rowan and Angeline would have a bombshell dropped on them.
