“You didn’t expect this, did you? At first, I wondered why you didn’t call Gavin for help this time. Then I heard what you said on the rooftop… You know? This time, Gavin and I didn’t go to. the ski resort. While you were making that phone call, we were right here in your house… Eleanor, you think you can clear your son’s name? Dream on.”
My mind raced, piecing together the fragments of her words.
She, too, was back.
She hated Gavin.
Everything–the twist in our lives, the betrayals–was all her doing.
She wanted Oliver to die.
She wanted Gavin and Oliver to be enemies.
“You hate me even more, don’t you?”
Celeste’s lips curled into a twisted smile.
“Shouldn’t I hate you? If it weren’t for that report of yours, my reputation wouldn’t have been shattered. I wouldn’t have had to hide from everyone. I finally meet someone who says he loves me, only for him to turn out to be a gambling addict and an abuser. Do you know what I gave up to come back here? You’ve made my life a living hell, and now you think I’ll let you live
Chapter 10 happily?”
