Chapter 4
I reached out, but my hand grabbed nothing but empty air.

My heart skipped a beat, and my mind went completely blank.
It wasn’t until I heard my in–laws‘ frantic cries that I forced myself to look down.
Oliver was hanging, half–suspended between the top floor and the one below.
The police, who had been waiting below, quickly grabbed him and began pulling him back toward safety.
I let out a breath I didn’t realize I was holding.
Finally, the tension in my chest began to ease.
Just as I was about to head downstairs to check on Oliver, I felt a burning gaze.
I turned to find Alexander watching me, his eyes filled with
venom.
“You really think he’s getting away with this?” His voice was thick with rage.
“For my daughter’s sake, I’ll destroy everything you have. You won’t escape this.”

I raised an eyebrow, meeting his glare.
“Oh? You really care about your daughter that much?”

Alexander blinked, confused: “What are you talking about? Of course I care about my daughter!”
I gave him a cold look.
“Then maybe you should start caring about her before she ended up on that rooftop. You think your daughter came here because of my son alone?”
He took a step back, baffled. “What the hell are you implying? My daughter came to the rooftop because of your son! If he hadn’t tricked her into coming here, she wouldn’t have died! Your son is nothing but a filthy, beastly scoundrel!”

I slapped him across the face, hard enough his confusion.
For all the sympathy I’d shown them for losing their daughter, I could no longer hold back my anger.
