Chapter 5
After all, they had almost pushed my son to the brink with their relentless accusations.
“If you still refuse to see the bigger picture, then maybe that’s why your daughter chose to die rather than come to you for help.”
I turned on my heel and started to walk away. There was no need to waste any more words on him.
But as I entered the hallway, I was immediately surrounded by a throng of reporters.
“Ma’am, were you really unaware of your son’s actions?”
“Given your background and your husband’s legal career, shouldn’t your son be more aware of the law? Why would he commit such violent acts?”
“Is your son a sociopath? Have you and your husband raised him to be a decent person?”
I felt cornered, trapped by their relentless questions.
The heat of anger surged through me, and I shot a look at the reporter who had spoken first.
“What kind of question is that? Do you really think I raised my

son to become a killer?”
As soon as the words left my mouth, I regretted them.
Predictably, the reporters jumped on my slip–up.
“So, are you admitting that your son is the murderer?”
“Ma’am, you were a journalist once, weren’t you? And your husband is a famous lawyer. With all that, how did your child become the perpetrator? Have you thought about what went wrong?”
“Ma’am, we’ve heard that you quit your job to stay at home. because of an alleged smear campaign against your romantic rival. Is that true?”
A chill ran down my spine.
I couldn’t believe they dredged up all these old rumors.
But now wasn’t the time to defend myself.
Every word could only make things worse.
Thankfully, the police arrived in time, forming a protective barrier around me as they escorted me out of the scene.
