Chapter 6
By the time I reached the police station, Oliver had already been taken into an interrogation room.
I was pacing in the lobby, trying to control my nerves, when I saw Alexander enter, flanked by his team.
And to my shock, Gavin and Celeste–who should have been enjoying themselves at a ski resort–walked in right behind him.
When Gavin saw me, his eyes narrowed, filled with loathing.
“You sure know how to stay informed. You knew I’d be here, didn’t you? Don’t think you can block me here and force me to go back with you. And what about last time? You ruined Celeste’s reputation. Aren’t you going to apologize?”
Last time?
Ruining Celeste’s reputation?
I froze, staring at him without saying a word.
The “last time” he was talking about was when he brazenly took Celeste to a parent–teacher meeting.
Their blatant behavior was caught on camera by other parents, who then secretly shared the photos with me.

Furious, I printed the pictures and planned to confront Gavin directly.
But before I could, he and Celeste left.
I made dozens of copies of those photos and distributed them throughout the building.
It caused a scandal that couldn’t be ignored.

I had thought that, after this, Gavin would cut ties with Celeste. out of concern for his reputation.
But instead, things only escalated.
Soon enough, they moved in together, openly living as a couple.
I remained still, but Celeste spoke up first.
“Gavin, please don’t blame Eleanor. She just misunderstood. She thought I was trying to take you away from her.”
Celeste turned to me, her eyes brimming with tears.
“The truth is, I never wanted to rekindle anything with Gavin. It was never meant to be. You should know, Gavin hasn’t told you yet, but I’m leaving next month. I won’t bother you anymore.”
“What are you talking about?”
Gavin rushed to wipe away her tears, a look of panic on his face.

“You’re not leaving me.”
“But I don’t want Oliver to hate vou. I don’t want to tear your family apart, and I can’t keep being the woman everyone despises…”
Celeste sobbed, her tears falling like a broken dam.
I couldn’t take it anymore.
“You can’t? Really? But you’re the most shameless kind of mistress. Don’t you know?”
